School RTOs must also be familiar with the Australian Skills Quality Authority “General direction:
Transition and teach-out” at www.asqa.gov.au/about-asqa/general-directions.html. The impact for school RTOs is that:
• no school can seek registration for the superseded qualifications after 5 March 2013
• RTOs must transition to the new qualifications before 6 March 2014
• RTOs may teach out the superseded qualifications up to 5 September 2014.
What you need to do
Registration
All school RTOs need to register before offering or delivering the SIS10 qualifications.
School RTOs currently registered for SIS10110, SIS20310 and SIS20510
School RTOs must complete and send an Application to change scope of registration form available at www.qsa.qld.edu.au/12264.html. This form needs to be completed as soon as possible because:
• no new students can be enrolled in the superseded qualifications after 6 March 2014
• school RTOs cannot deliver the superseded qualifications after 5 September 2014.
School RTOs that request units significantly different from those already on scope may be asked to supply supplementary evidence before registration.
When a school has registered for a new qualification, students may transition from the superseded qualification. This transition is essential for students who are not expected to complete the superseded qualification before 5 September 2014.
Qualifications that have changed — SIS20110, SIS20210 and SIS30310
The QSA will automatically add the updated core units and the updated elective units to the scope of registration for all schools currently registered for SIS20110, SIS20210, and SIS30310. If the school’s RTO wishes to request additional units for their scope of registration, an Application to change scope of registration form available at www.qsa.qld.edu.au/12264.html must be completed and submitted. When the updated units are available through the Student Data Capture System (SDCS), students must be transitioned from the superseded units by 6 March 2014.
School RTOs not currently registered for Sport, Fitness and Recreation qualifications School RTOs must complete and send an Application to change scope of registration form available at www.qsa.qld.edu.au/12264.html. You will be required to attach evidence to your application and it is advisable to read the Application to change RTO scope of registration — evidence guidelines, which is also available at www.qsa.qld.edu.au/12264.html.
