during finishing the study in English Diploma Program, Faculty of Letters and
Fine Arts Sebelas Maret Universiy. This final project report was written based on
the job training that I did in SDN 02 TELUKAN. The title of this final project is “
TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY BY USING PICTURES TO THE
THIRD GRADE STUDENTS AT SDN TELUKAN 02”. This final project report
is written to fulfill the requirement in obtaining a certificate at the English
Diploma Degree, Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, Sebelas Maret University.
This final project discusses the process of teaching and learning
vocabulary and problems faced by the students and the teachers. The purpose is to
develop the writer’s skill in teaching English at elementary school.
The final project is far from being perfect. Therefore, I welcome any
criticisms, comments, and suggestions from all readers for the betterment of this
final project. Finally, I would like to think to others who have given a lot of
guidance and assistance in writing project.

ABSTRACT
Septyanita. C9310071. Teaching English Vocabulary by Using Pictures To
The Third Grade Students at SDN Telukan 02. English Diploma Program,
Faculty of Letters and Fine Arts, Sebelas Maret University.
This final project report is based on the job training at SDN Telukan 02 on February 17, 2013 to June 20, 2013. The objectives of this report are to describe the activities in teaching English vocabulary by using pictures to the third grade students in SDN Telukan 02, to find out the problems and to provide the solutions to the problems in teaching English vocabulary by using pictures to the third grade students at SDN Telukan 02 .
In the job training, I did some activities such as observation class, teaching class and making lesson plan. In teaching English vocabulary, I used pictures in some teaching steps to teach the vocabulary to the students. The process of teaching vocabulary consist of building knowledge of the field, modeling, joint construction, independent construction and closing.
The results of the research show that: teaching English vocabulary using pictures influence the students vocabulary mastery, the students are enthusiastic in
joining teaching learning process, the students’ motivation to learn English is
improving, and teaching vocabulary using picture is very effective.
