ABSTRACT
This research reveals the feminism aspects as reflected in Susan Glaspell’s Trifles. ‘Trifles’ is one-act play and it was first performed by the Provincetown Player at Wharf Theatre on August 8th, 1916. This play is an example of early
feminist drama. Feminism is a social movement. It refers to the belief in the political, social, and economic equality of the sexes that individual is a valuable human being in his or her own right. As there are many feminism movements such as Radical, Liberal, Socialist, and Marxist feminism, the writers focus on liberal feminism pioneered by Mary Wollstonecraft.
The writers find that there are three gender issues in the play. They are Men’ dominance on women and Women’ Rebellition on men, The underestimation of men on women, and The Solidarity of women against men.
