Proses emosi dan strategi regulasi emosi remaja terhadap peristiwa percobaan
bunuh diri orang tua

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses emosi dan strategi regulasi emosi yang muncul pada remaja terhadap peristiwa percobaan bunuh diri orang tua. Regulasi emosi dibutuhkan untuk mengontrol kestabilan emosi remaja sehingga dapat mengurangi dampak negatif yang muncul dari peristiwa percobaan bunuh diri orang tuanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Metode pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara dan observasi dengan jumlah subjek penelitian sebanyak 3 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga subjek melewati proses emosi sesuai dengan tahapan yaitu situation, attention, appraisal dan response. Namun, untuk strategi regulasi emosi ketiga subjek memiliki perbedaan. Subjek 1 dan 3 tidak melakukan strategi regulasi emosi situation modification. Berbeda dengan subjek 2 yang melakukan setiap strategi regulasi emosi yaitu situation selection, situation modification, attentional deployment, cognitive change dan response modulation. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa strategi regulasi emosi ketiga subjek dipengaruhi oleh 3 faktor, yaitu intensitas emosional, kompleksitas kognitif dan tujuan motivasi. Pemilihan strategi regulasi emosi ada subjek 1 dan 3 dipengaruhi oleh intensitas ketika menghadapi suatu situasi sehingga memunculkan emosi-emosi negatif. Sementara subjek 2 dipengaruhi oleh proses kognitif dalam mengelolah emosi-emosi yang muncul terhadap suatu situasi dan evaluasi dari jumlah stimulus yang memunculkan emosi-emosi negatif. Selain itu, kemampuan remaja dalam melakukan regulasi emosi dipengaruhi oleh familial context yaitu hubungan remaja dengan lingkungan terdekatnya seperti orang tua. Subjek 1 dan 3 memiliki hubungan keluarga yang kurang harmonis serta memiliki waktu yang kurang untuk bertemu antara anak dan orang tua. Lain halnya dengan subjek 2 yang memliki hubungan keluarga antara anak dan orang tua yang baik dan harmonis.

ABSTRACT
This research aim to describe the process of emotion and emotion regulation strategies that experienced by adolescence on the events of suicide attempt parents. Emotion regulation is needed to control the adolescent emotional stability to reduce the negative effects caused by parents attempted suicide event. This research used a qualitative approach with case study. The retrieval method in this research used interviews and observations that participated by three subjects. The results showed that all three subjects through the emotional process conform with the stages of that situation, attention, appraisal and response. However, these three subjects had different emotion regulation strategies. The first and third subjects didn’t do situation modification emotion regulation strategy. In contrast to the second subject who performed every emotion regulation strategies like situation selection, situation modification, attentional deployment, cognitive change and response modulation. This research shows emotion regulation strategies of these three subjects was influenced by three factors, they are intensity of emotional, cognitive complexity and goals motivational. The selection of emotion regulation strategies of the first and the third subjects are influenced by the intensity when subjects experienced the situation that elicits negative emotions. While the the second subject is influenced by cognitive processes in managed the emotions that come up against a situation and evaluation of the amount of the stimulus that elicits negative emotions. In addition, the ability of adolescents in regulating emotions are influenced by family context. It is about the relationships of the adolescence with their closest environment such as paratens. The first and third subjects had less harmonious family relationship and had less time to do interaction between the children and parents. As with the second subject of the has good and harmonious family relationships between children and parents.
