"Kalau ekspor kan ada kuotanya, dan kita lihat jumlah kuotanya," kata Airlangga di kantornya, Jakarta, Jumat (15/11/2019).

Ia menegaskan, ekspor bijih nikel yang dicatatkan BPS tersebut tak melewati batas volume.

"(Melewati batas) apanya? Kan sudah dikeluarkan terhadap beberapa perizinan yang sudah memenuhi persyaratan," tegas Airlangga.

Bahkan, untuk saat ini berdasarkan surat resmi DJBC Kementerian Keuangan dengan nomor surat 1076/BC/2019 hanya ada 9 perusahaan yang telah memenuhi tiga kewajiban untuk melakukan ekspor bijih nikel.

Memang pelarangan tersebut dikarenakan, nikel dengan kadar rendah sudah bisa diolah di dalam negeri, karena perkembangan teknologi yang sudah maju. Apalagi nikel dapat diguna kan untuk bahan baku komponen mobil listrik.

Oleh karena itu, Pemerintah Indonesia memutuskan untuk menghentikan pemberian insentif ekspor (pelarangan ekspor) hasil tambang mineral jenis nikel. Penghentian ini berasumsi banyaknya smelter nikel yang dibangun di Indonesia.
