Bellevue, Ohio. Held meetings to assist in clearing up local lighting and power situation. Gave a minstrel show and netted about $300 for the Public Betterment Fund.

Beloit, Wis. Joined with other civic organizations in .. Better Cities" contest in Wisconsin. This is a big movement in Wisconsin and one of the beat things Kiwanis has done toward building Beloit.

Berwyn, Ill. At the request of the chairman of the finance committee of the city council, this club studied a proposed ordinance creating the office of a City Comptroller to handle special assessment matters, etc., and gave it support by letter and being present when the council itself discussed the measure and voted it in. Club actively interested in Better City Campaign which was conducted by one of the Chicago daily newspapers. Voted to erect large bill board that can be viewed from railroads to show Berwyn'•

ten beat points. Club interested in bettering the local postal service, rela·

tive to being taken into the Chicago postal area.

Biloxi, Miaa. F'Ostered movement for a new bridge across Back Bay of Biloxi which fo part of the Old Spanish Trail.

Bingham Canyon, Utah. Club sponsored movement to induce Telephone Com·

pany to replace the present system with an up-to-date common battery ayatem.

Bisbee, Ariz. Held a joint meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary on the Colorado River project.

Blackfoot, Idaho. Assisted Sportsman's Club in getting trout fry for Bingham County streams.

Bluffton, Ind. Bought land on which a very unusual oak tree stands, a hybrid oak. Have also fenced it off and marked it with a suitable sign.

Burlington, N. J. Gave a folding ladder as one ·of the prizes at the Firemen'•

Parade. Cooperated with Chamber of Commerce and Common Council in securing a site for Burlington's proposed armory.

Cambridge, Maaa. Helped to form the Cambridge Civic Forum.

Cambridge, Ohio. Gave a dinner to the State Highway Directors and members, county officials, contractors, engineers and others who have been instru·

mental in the construction of the new $200,000 viaduct on the National Road. Cambridge Kiwanis did a great deal in starting and securing thi1 improvement.

Cameron, W. Va. Helped secure parking ground and electric lights for city.

Carbon Hill, Ala. Fostered movement to advertise Carbon Hill, to obtain free city mail delivery and to eliminate grade crossings.

Carey, Ohio. Boulevard driving system installed by the Kiwanis club •.

Cedai: Rapida, Iowa. Donated $435 cash for the community house.

Chadron, Nebr. Working towards building an auto camp grounds.

Chelsea, Mich. Instrumental in putting through paving project on main arter}' leading into Chelsea.

Chicago, Ill. Club had representatives on five city conferences, two on matters pertaining to boys' work, one on universal water metering, one regarding conditions at county jail, and the fifth regarding annual high school clean•

up, and paint-up campaign.

Clifton Forge, Va. Played baseball game for benefit of new Fire Alarm System.

Coos Bay, Ore. Cooperated with 'Other civic bodies in the furtherance of a new water project.

Cuyahoga Falla, Ohio. Backed the .. Buy at Home" campaign with fine reaulta.

Dade City, F1a. Committee appointed to look into a drainage proposition for this section.

East Chicai'o, Ind. Public Affairs Committee investigating purchase of local water works by city of East Chicago.

Eau Claire, Wis. Renovated the Haymarket site and provided many stalls for the farmers' teams and adequate parking space for their automobiles.

El Reno, Okla. The Club assisted in promoting favorable action by the State for the benefit of dep·ositors in state banks which failed.

Erie; Pa. Interested in greater improvement in traffic regulation, in tht! widen- ing of streets and property zoning.

Excelsior Springs, Mo. Club promoted a movement to serve all spring watera free of cost.

Fairmont, Nebr. Interested in local water problem and fostered better drinking water for the city.

Fairmont, W. Va. Assisted in the sale of $1,000,000 worth of Building and Loan Association stock to assist people to own their homes.

Forest City, N. C. Made a map of the town to show need of ·opening and de- veloping new streets.

Freeport, Ill. Supported the erection of a coliseum by the Park Board.

Fort Myers, Fla. Dedicated a $100,000 railroad station which was secured thru efforts of the Kiwanis club of Ft. Myers.

Fort Valley, Ga. This club successfully worked for a bill to ratify the creation of a new county, Peach County, of which Fort Valley is to be the county seat. This has been the aim of this ctiy for the past ten years. Sponsored Third Annual Peach Blossom Festival. About 50,000 people were enter- tained on this.

Franklin, Tenn. Club was instrumental in securing a new post office building at a cost of $48,500. Worked to secure new cigar factory for the city.

Gallup, N. M. Indian Inter-Tribal Ceremonial sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Gallup which held a drive to carry on this Ceremonial.

Girard, Ohio. This club has promoted for the past three years a grade elimina- tion bridge known as the high level bridge, at an approximate cost of a million dollars.

Glenwood, Minn. Activities for a law against the wanton destruction of the Ringneck pheasant.

Greenville, Ohio. Through the activity of the Greenville club streets were re- paired and connecting links of inter-county highways have been built.

Hamilton, Ont. Actively interested in helping to establish a branch of British Welfare League for looking after immigrants.

Hammonton, N. J. Sponsored a movement to widen the main business street in the town of Hammonton.

Harrisburg, Ill. The bad lighting conditions in the public schools taken up with the proper authority. Work of renumbering and renaming the streets was taken up with the City Council.

Hartsville, S. C. Investigated possibilities of Intermediate Credit !3ank.

Hibbing, Minn. Presented a resolution to the Municipal Court and City offi- cials asking limit of penalty to be imposed on drunken auto drivers. Pre- sented a resolution to law makers asking that they be more strict in regard to intoxicated auto drivers.

Hutchinson, Kana. App·ointed a committee to work with the City Commission in regard to some new traffic laws.

Indianola, Miss. Worked to get other clubs of the city interested in the building of a community club house. Also interested in the improvement of school buildings of the town.

Jacksonville, Fla. Committee appointed for the purpose of illumination of tho Beach Road from South Jacksonville to the beach.

Jacksonville, Ill. Gave moral support for the extension of water mains and improvement of water plant.

Jamestown, N. Y. Re-organization of joint council of civic agencies.

Jeannette, Pa. Arranged for a public parking place to relieve the congested conditi~ns during business hours. Purchased. drinking fountain and placed same on prominent street .for use of the public.

Joplin, Mo. The "White Way" to be built ·on Main Street was ready for .the approval of the board of directors and the appointment of teams to raiae money for installation.

Kalispell, Mont. The protection and propagation ·of fish and game has been sponsored by the Kalispell club. Up to September, 1923, about 200,000 fry and fingerlings, native and rainbow trout, had been stocked in Bitter Root Lake by members of the Athletic Committee of the club and others whom they had persuaded to cooperate in this enterprise.

Keyport, N. J. The project of building a bridge between Perth Amboy and T ottenville is being backed very strongly by the Kiwanis clubs of the state.

The Kiwanis club of Keyport is decidedly in favor of this bridge, believing that it will do much to relieve the motor congestion to the north, and that it will materially aid in the development of both Middlesex and Monmouth counties.

Kilbourn, Wis. Planned a booster trip to boost Kilbourn and the Dells.

Lakeland, Fla. One of the members was appointed by the Chamber of Com•

merce to secure the National Carpenters and Joiners' Home in Lakeland with the result that this $4,000,000 institution was brought to this city.

Lakewood, Ohio. Working for a much needed fire station.

La Port, Ind. Endorsed drive to raise $15,000 to build colored church.

Larned, Kans. Cooperated with Community Association for general community development of former work.

Lewistown, Ill. Secured the pledge of about 90 per cent of membership of club to serve as jurymen when called.

Lexington, N. C. Numbering of streets taken care of by the club.

Lisbon, Ohio. Put on a minstrel show and cleared a net balance of $650 which was used for community betterment.

Lockport, N. Y. Contributed toward the "Better Home" movement in this city.

Logansport, Ind. This club is behind the "Better Home" movement.

Los Gatos, Calif. Succeeded in getting more adequate sewage disposal.

Lumberton, N. C. Worked to secure Post Office building.

Macon, Ga. Helped put over municipal bond election for public improvements.

Madison, Fla. Sponsoring a hydro-electric plant on the Swanee River which will cost about $1,000,000. Organized a fish and game protective club.

Madison, S. D. Club aided in the building of the Garden Theatre at the Eastern South Dakota Teacher's College.

Madisonville, Ky. Secured White Way for city costing $8,000.

Manchester, Tenn. Started a movement to create a more friendly feeling be·

tween the town and country people by a series of booster or acquaintance trips over the county.

Mandan, N. D. Procured a $600 appropriation from County Commissioners for repairing of dam at city park.

Marion, N. C. Club was instrumental in securing fish hatchery in county of McDowell. Totaling expenditure about $25,000.

Monroe, N. C. Started a movement to have the depot improved and sheds built.

Montezuma, Ga. Have prevailed upon the city authorities to have a survey made of the town with a view of paving Main Street and putting in additional and larger water mains.

Montreal, Gue. Working on town planning, street re-numbering, and drug control.

Morehead, Ky. Worked with city officials in securing water works for town and school.

Morganfield, Ky. Helped secure better telephone service between Sturgis and this city. Also secured new newspaper for the county.

Muskogee, Okla. Voted to contribute $I 0 a month towards the maintenance of the Traveler's Aid Association.

Napoleon, Ohio. A delegate was sent to Washington, D. C., in tegard to the erection of a new post office building for Napoleon.

New Brunswick, N. J. Appointed a committee to see the City Commissioners about the engagement 'Of a policewoman.

New Martinsville, W. Va. Worked to secure street improvements and fire equip·

ment.

Norwalk, r>hio. Investigating the water conditions in the city.

Oakland City, Ind. Succeeded in getting one mile of new concrete walk ordered to be built by town board.

Okemah, Okla. Interested in having public school built, paving streets and later will take up the matter of a playground for children. .

Olympia, Wash. Aided in a county road building program, the extension of the city limits and the erection of new street signs.

Orlando, Fla. Succeeded in getting the city council to call a special election for the purpose of voting on a $100,000 auditorium.

Ortonville, Minn. Raised funds to furnish rest room in new community armory building.

Pekin, III. Held a meeting for the mayor and city officials and pledged Kiwanis support to all worth-while matters. Participated in Centennial Parade.

Pennsboro, W. Va. Census being taken of community which will show exact status of every family.

Perth Amboy, N. J. Sponsored a great bridge project between Staten Island and Perth Amboy.

Pomeroy-Middleport, Ohio. Devised ways and means to help the unemployment situation.

Pontiac, Ill. Worked to secure a reduction in freight rates on coal to Pontiac.

Port Jervis, N. Y. Working for building of new sewer connections in lower part of city.

Portland, Ind. Club has taken steps to secure a reduction in gas rates. Started to better the fire-protection system of Portland.

Pullman, Wash. Aided the county officials in keeping the highways open.

Redfield, S. D. Sponsoring bridge project at Florida City across Missouri River.

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Gave a party for the benefit of Great Lakes Mission building fund and raised $549. 1 0. Also co}lected over $1, 200 by sub- scriptions. This building could not be finished for lack of funds but through the efforts of the club, the building will be completed.

Saint Charles, Ill. Started movement for re-numbering the streets of the city.

Saint Johns, Que. A member of the Montreal Kiwanis club donated an ambu- lance to the St. Johns club which was handed over to the city for public use.

Saint Joseph, Mo. Interested in securing an air mail route through Saint Joseph.

Salt Lake City, Utah. Interested in relieving water shortage in Salt Lake City.

Santa Fe, N. M. Obtained the improvement of several city streets through the city council.

Seaford, Del. Materially assisted neighboring town of Cannon, Delaware, in raising funds to erect new church.

Sioux City, Iowa. Started negotiations to secure vacant half block in heart of town district to be used for parking for visitors.

Sioux Falls, S. D. Cooperated with committee from other civic clubs in matter pertaining to financial disturbance in this city and state.

South Boston, Va. Donated $250 towards purchasing cemetery for the town.

Spokane, Wash. Held a joint meeting with other civic clubs for the purpose of sponsoring the Gooding Bill which is now supported by the Chamber of Commerce and intermediate Rate Association. $1 00 was contributed by members for this purpose.

Struthers, Ohio. Arousing sentiment for school tax levy.

Tacoma, Wash. 40 Kiwanians collected $3,500 for a Free Tourist Informa- tion Bureau. Raised $500 for the erection of a large Kiwanis welcome arch at city limits and provided a rest room and drinking fountain.

Tampa, Fla. Worked for a new railroad in Florida.

Tillamook, Ore. Assisted in securing funds for finishing the exterior of the armory.

Thomaston, Ga. Improving new county jail.

Toronto, Ohio. Have taken up matter for telegraph office in city.

Tracy, Minn. Club working to secure Lake Shetek darn.

Tucumcari, N. M. The matters of a camp ground: free delivery of mail, and street paving have been supported.

Tyrone, Pa. Supervised the purchase of a c·om~unity ambulance for which a drive for funds was recently held.

Urbana, Ohio. Five members agreed to pay $200 each and 11 members agreed to contribute or collect $100 each for the support of the Community Club.

Vancouver, B. C. Urging Governments to open all tenders in public.

Vidalia, Ga. A new freight depot and station secured through club activity.

Arrangements have been perfected for starting a creamery depot.

Virginia, Minn. Committee appointed to work on reduction of gasoline price, after which price was lowered one cent on two occasions.

Visalia, Calif. Assisted the Board ·of City Trustees in enlarging the city limits.

Wayne, Nebr. Cooperated with greater \Vayne Civic Club in promoting civic enterprises.

Webster, S. D. Secured .firemen outfits.

Webster City, Iowa. Worked to secure light plant of city and city hall heating plant.

Wellsburg, V/. Va. Interested in paving streets of the city.

Westby, Wis. Interested· in a paving and sewerage project.

Wetaskiwin, Alt. Put improvements in auto camp.

Wildwood, N. J. Kiwanians met the delegates to the New Jersey Baptist State Convention with automobiles and placed automobiles at their disposal throughout the convention.

Williamson, W. Va. Took an active part in a six weeks' "Religious Crusade"

held in this city.

Willows, Calif. Put over benefit dance for volunteer fire department which waa recently organized and netted $300.

Winame.c, Ind. Put over the system of uniform flag decoration for the streets in the business district.

York, Pa. The club is sponsoring the Mummer's Day Parade, at which time

$1,000 in prizes will be awarded.

Promoted New Hotels

Anderson, S. C. Took a very prominent part in the drive for $300,000 for a community hotel which was successfully put over.

Arcadia, Fin. Efforts put forth to get new hotel here. Proposed I 5 0 rooms.

Camden, N. J. Actively interested in community hotel project.

Corvallis, Ore. Put over a big drive for a new $240,000 hotel.

Elkin, N. C. A $I 00,000 hotel project was sponsored by the club.

Marion, S. C. A movement to build a $I 00,000 hotel was launched by the Kiwanis club. Completed the desired stock subscription.

Martinsburg, W. Va. Assisted in raising $400,000 for a Community Hotel.

Roanoke, Va. Club endorsed movement to build a $ l ,500,000 hotel in Roanoke.

York, Pa. Through the efforts of the Kiwanis club, a new $1,000,000 hotel will ho built by the Hockenbury System, Inc.

Supported Bond Issues

Akron, Ohio. Distributed circulars favoring sewer bond issue.

Ashland, Ky. School, water works and city building bonds for which the club had worked were passed at the elections.

Bowling Green, Ohio. Supported and worked for the special tax proposition submitted to the voters for additional levies for schools, good roads and sewage disposal plant.

Harrisburg, Ill. The club put over a bond issue for the purpose of buying new fire equipment and also to annex new territory to the city.

Norton, Va. Club helped put over bond election for $110,000 for street and sewer improvement.

Oakland, Calif. Club supported the School Bond Issue for $9,600,000, and also the .. Dona of Peralta" Festival.

Salem, W. Va. Helped put over $75,000 bond issue for new water system.

San Bernardino, Calif. End·orsed and helped put over bond issue to provide more water for city.

San Diesro, Calif. Promoted city water bonds campaign.
