Judul Skripsi: English Wise Quotes as Media for Students' Vocabulary Mastery at SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. The purpose of this research was to find out whether using wise quotes will increase students' vocabulary comprehension or not. The sample of this research is class VIII.7 SMP Negeri 35 Makassar in the academic year with a total of 20 people.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether English wise quotes as a medium of instruction improve students' vocabulary mastery at SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. We hope that this research can help teachers to use instructional media to help students master vocabulary. We hope that this research can help motivate students to increase their vocabulary mastery with wise quotes.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Media
Fleming states that the media serves to regulate an effective relationship between the two parties, namely the students and the content of the lesson. The media is used to clarify what is conveyed, the media is a tool that intervenes in the clarification of information. From some of the above meanings, it can be concluded that the media is a source of entry or mediation of information, which is used by every human being, as for the media include film, television, print media,.
Teaching Media
Learning media can be designed through a learning process plan prepared and implemented by the teacher. The method of meeting these criteria is considered to be determined to determine the appropriate instructional media for a particular instructional material. Second, teachers can produce simple learning media for teaching purposes, especially two-dimensional media or graphic media, three-dimensional media, and projection media.
Learning Media
Learning media can also be interpreted as anything that can be used to channel messages, stimulate the thoughts, feelings, attention and willingness of students so that they can stimulate the learning process. The forms of learning media are used to make the learning experience concrete. In this case, Gagne and Briggs emphasize the importance of learning media as a tool to stimulate the learning process.
Vocabulary
According to Rusda, vocabulary is the entire language of the words found in the language. Furthermore, vocabulary words are all words owned by someone that contain information about the meaning and usage of words in the language. Vocabulary is also a language component that contains all the information about the meaning and usage of words in the language.

Wise Quotes as a Learning Media
Usually quoted the words of public figures, artists, books, music or movies that touch on humor. Generally, the meaning of wise quotes is defined as a goal or encouragement, the purpose of which is to encourage someone to try to get or achieve what they want. The words of wisdom contained in the quote can motivate students, because students these days prefer to learn to use mobile phones rather than using books.
These quotes are very easy to get through students' mobile phones, and by using quotes in learning, students will not get bored quickly if they have to read for too long, because these quotes only have few lines of sentences and contain motivational sentences that can inspire the students. In teaching with quotations, the teacher must be creative to make interesting quotations as a medium to make students focus on the teaching and learning process. According to Sudjana and Rivan, quotations in an instrument from a strict visual combination consisting of color and massage act as a means to complete one's attention in time to the full meaning of their idea.
Learning vocabulary through quotes is an interesting way to make students interesting in the teaching and learning process.
Previous Studies
Learning to read a story using the quoting strategy has a very significant effect on students' reading comprehension scores. Vocabulary Mastery with Jakarta Post Newspaper Articles', the research said that learning English vocabulary using quotes from The Jakarta Post Newspaper Articles has an effect that means it is more effective than using textbooks. The research also said that the quote from the newspaper article "The Jakarta Post" is an alternative that can be used by teachers in teaching and developing students' vocabulary mastery.
In this study, Suheni saw an increase in students' enthusiasm for learning English vocabulary, in addition to students doing better on the given vocabulary test. Based on the above previous studies, the researcher wants to conduct research about how to give students English vocabulary mastery with wise quotes. This research uses wise quotes as learning media, where wise quotes only consist of a few words that will not make students bored quickly, wise quotes can also improve students' vocabulary mastery because the words in quotes can to motivate students in learning.
This research is expected to make students more interested in learning to understand vocabulary through reading.

This analysis was to compare the students' achievement and performance during the pre-test, treatment and post-test. This chapter discusses the results of findings and discussions of Wise Quotes For Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at SMP Negeri 35 Makassar. This chapter also discusses students' vocabulary before and after test scores, static descriptive and paired sample test.
The table below is the percentage of students' classification in the five points of the pre-test consisting of excellent, good, average, poor and very poor. After analyzing the pre-test and post-test results of the students, the following table shows the results of the mean and standard deviation of the students presented in the descriptive statistics table. Based on the data in the table above, it can be concluded that there was a significant increase between the pre-test and the post-test of the students after the treatment.
After conducting the students' pre- and post-test score in the experiment class, the author used t-test for hypothesis testing. While the Alternative hypothesis (H1) states that there is the significant influence with the use of wise quotes as media for students' vocabulary mastery up to grade eight at SMP 35 Makassar academic year 2021/2022. This means that the wise quotes can improve the students' vocabulary at the eighth grade at SMP 35 Makassar academic year 2021/2022.

FINDING AND DISCUSSION
Discussion
The achievement of students' vocabulary comprehension before they were given treatment was categorized as deficient, this can be seen from the percentage scores on the students' pre-test. After giving the pretest to the students, and knowing the results, the researcher then gave a treatment in the form of a wise quote video slide. In the video slide, there are several wise quotes that students can see, the researcher explains the meaning of each quote, then the researcher gives some simple vocabulary to the students.
However, after the treatment, the students' vocabulary comprehension achievement after the treatment is categorized as very good, this is seen by the percentage of the students' post-test scores. The results of the t-test analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. it can be seen from the significant value which means that using wise quotes as a teaching tool has an effect on students' vocabulary comprehension. From these results, a significant difference can be observed between the pre-test and the post-test, in other words, the use of wise quotations as a tool for students' vocabulary mastery can be increased.
It can be seen from the research process carried out that the use of wise quotes is very influential on the students of class VIII.7 of SMP Negeri 35 Makassar as a medium to master English vocabulary. In the previous chapter, the question was whether wise quotes in English can affect students' vocabulary comprehension. For the first meeting, the researcher will conduct a test called a pre-test, this test is conducted to see the abilities of the students before the treatment.
This conclusion is based on the test results using clever quotes. in the results of the previous chapter, the researcher has found significant results on the students' vocabulary comprehension skills, in the results of the analysis, there is a significant increase in the vocabulary mastery of class VIII.7. students of SMP Negeri 35 Makassar who were tested in the pre-test and post-test.

The success of learning English depends not only on the lesson, but what is more important is whether the teacher presents the lesson and uses different methods to manage the classroom and make it more lively and fun. These quotes also help the teacher to manage the classroom well and provide many opportunities for students to be active in the teaching and learning process. Students should focus more on learning, students should think that learning English is not boring, but learning English is easy.
The researchers can use this research as a research source and can investigate more deeply related to the use of quotations for students' learning media to give students an understanding of English vocabulary.
