“THE CORRELATION BETWEEN INTENSITY OF NOISE INDUCED HEARING LOSS IN WORKERS AT SULTAN HASANUDDIN INTERNASIOAL AIRPORT MAKASSAR IN 2016”

(ix + 72 pages + 16 attachments)

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Airports are one source of noise, while the low operational employees and residents in the neighborhood around the airport is affected component caused an increase in noise. World Health Organization (2007), states that the prevalence of deafness in Indonesia reached 4.2 %. Countries in the world have established that NIHL (Noise Induced Hearing Loss) is the largest occupational disease in the world. 16% of hearing loss suffered by adults due to noise in the workplace, so that NIHL can be a problem that needs to be addressed and give a special attention.

PURPOSE: To know the effect of exposure to aircraft noise with the hearing loss in workers at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport Makassar.

METHOD: The method of this research was observational analytic with the cross sectional study. The samples of this research was the whole workers at the Apron Movement Control ( AMC ) PT. Angkasa Pura I Makassar. The sampling technique was total sampling technique with the amount of the subject of this research was 40 respondents. Data analysis was done by univariate, bivariate with Chi Square Test and Fisher 's Exact Test.

RESULT: Shows that there is no significant effect on the intensity of noise induced hearing loss ( p = 1.000 ; OR = 1.125 ; 95 % CI = 0.198 to 6.385 ).

CONCLUSION: There was no significant correlation between the intensity of noise induced hearing loss. The other additional factor such as age, length of employment and working hours become the risk factors for hearing loss.

Keywords: Noise Intensity, Apron Workers Movement Control , Hearing Loss.
