Characters.

Differs:from Chlorostilbon prasinvsdaphne in the darker toneof the green above, inthe bluish tinge on the chin, in the brighter andmore
brilliant green below, in the longerbill,which
isalsobrownish on the lowermandible(black in C. p. daphne),and
inhavinga longertail.
Description.
— Above
brightgreen with copperyreflections, dulleronthe topofthehead and uppertail-coverts; chin bluish green; throat, breastand abdomen
brilliant, shiningcopperygreen; the bellyandflankswithsome
whitecottuny feathers, mostlyconcealed; undertail-covertsnearest bottlegreen; tail steelblue; wingcoverts coloroftheback; flightfeathers purplish blue; upper mandible black, lower mandible brownish,except at extreme tip(probably dull reddish in life).Wing,
47.5; tail, 29;culuien, 18nun.
Remarks.

Thisfine species isfoundedupon
animmature
and twoadult niales, all fromthe type locality.The
other adult ismoltingand
some- what dullerthan the type; theculmen
measures 19.5mm.
Five adult malesof C.p.daphne average: wing,46.1; tail,21.8; culmen,16.1mm.
1have notaspecimen of typical C. p.prasinus, butjudging fromdescrip- tionsand theclosely relatedforms, thespeciesisquitedistinct. Lesson's type ofOrnismya prasina most likely
came
from the coastofBraziland
not fromtheinterior.
