THEME: “Embracing Inviduality in a Judgmental World.”
Ladies and gentleman, let’s stop for a moment, and ask yourselves:
“Have you ever felt that you’re not good enough just because you’re different? Have you ever doubted yourself because you were scared of others’ judgment, too afraid of not fitting into society?
If you have, then we’re on the same boat.
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah wabarakatuh.
The Honorable Judges, respected committee, and all amazing audience.First of all, I would like to thank Allah SWT for blessing us so that we can all be here in good spirits.
I’m Nurul Asmaini LD, I’m from Kachak Team B, proudly representing Kartika XX-1 Makassar Senior High School, a place not just for studying but also a place that has shaped who I am today.
Self-confidence is the feeling of trust in our own abilities and skills. In my opinion, self- confidence is very important because it can motivate and encourage us to grow and improve ourselves. It is also the belief that we have the ability to achieve our goals.
There’s a time when I often think that I’m not enough. Afraid to speak up, to show who I really am. “Maybe I’m not good enough to be respected by others.”
I always envy them who have more confidence and can be themselves at any time they want.
And yeah, I doubt myself: “Why can’t I do so?”
Those are the problems that hit me back then. Moments when I stayed silent even though deep inside, I wanted to express myself freely.
But as time went by, I realized how bad that thought affected my soul. The main problem wasn’t about being good enough for others, being as good or even better than others — it was only about accepting myself first.
Luckily, I’ve been asking myself to at least develop my mindset gradually. Took a small step, appreciating small things about myself, believing myself no matter what, and by this moment I gain the key to unlock the confidence that’s been buried deep inside myself.
I told myself:
“It’s okay to be different.
It’s okay to grow slowly.
It’s okay to not have all the answers.
I am trying, and that is enough.”
As Taylor Swift Said
“Just be yourself. There is no one better.”
For sure, confidence is not something that appears all of a sudden in a period of time.
It’s something we need to build up with patience and consistency, and totally with love for ourselves.
I think, even if it's hard to live, we have social media that always shows a world that looks so perfect — for example a beautiful face like maudy ayunda, a perfect body like ariel tatum, and a successful life like rafi ahmad.
In my opinion the more people compare themselves on social media, the more likely they are to lose their confidence. We live in a virtual world that often makes us forget who we really are.
Sadly we started to assume being accepted means have to be flawless, popular, and others.
Yet, that’s completely wrong.
You just need to be realistic in this world
Nothing’s perfect in this world, even if it portraits.
Sometimes, the people who look the happiest are the ones who struggle the most behind the scenes of life.
And that’s okay.
Because struggles are part of what makes us human.
Self-confidence does not come from likes, followers, or compliments.
It happens when we can look at ourselves in the mirror and say,
"This is me. I may not be perfect, but I'm enough."
It happens when we accept our strengths and weaknesses without shame.
We are all unique, maybe we in ourselves have a lot of things that we have to show to others that we are great and we believe in ourselves.
Our differences are not something we have to hide.
This is something to celebrate and show to others.
Just imagine if the contents of this world are all the same without difference.
How boring would that be?
It’s our differences that make this world colorful.
It’s our differences that make us special.
So today, I want to remind myself and
remind you that we don’t need to be like anyone else.
We don’t have to fit into someone else’s idea of perfection.
We are enough as we are.
Maybe we are silent and Sometimes we are noisy.
Or maybe we are different from others?
That's okay because it's a natural thing
Because the most important thing is to be honest with ourselves and we have to build our self-confidence
The world doesn’t need us to be perfect.
The world needs us to be real.
It needs us to be brave enough to show who we truly are.
It needs us to be kind to ourselves and to others.
As Zendaya once said
“There is only one you. Understand who you are, and own it.”
So starting today, let’s stop doubting ourselves.
Let’s stop hiding our true selves.
Let’s stand proud of who we are with all our imperfections.
I believe that one day, every young Indonesian will be able to stand with their heads held high, proud of themselves not because they are perfect, but because they know:"I am worthy, not because I am perfect, but because I try. I am enough, just the way I am. I am valuable — and so are you."
Thank you for listening.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
