The researcher applies descriptive research. The object of the research is compatibility the materials of English Textbook Entitled Active English 5 for the fifth grade of Elementary School with the criteria of Good Material Design by Rajan’s Theory. The data of this research are the materials found in English Textbook Entitled Active English 5 written by Ida Kusuma Dewi, Djatmika, Agus Dwi Priyanto published by PT. Tiga Serangkai Pustaka Mandari in 2007. The data source is taken from Active English 5 textbook by Ida Kusuma Dewi, Djatmika, Agus Dwi Priyanto.In collecting data, the writer used documentary analysis as the instrument. The data were analyzed by (1) presenting the materials (2) comparing the materials (3) judging whether the materials of English textbook appropriate with the indicators of good materials design suggested by Sundara Rajan or not.

Kemampuan berbicara adalah salah satu dari empat skill dalam bahasa Inggris. Untuk bisa beekomunikasi berbahasa Inggris dalam konteks pendidikan dan profesionalisme, kemampuan berbicara merupakan hal yang penting karena berbicara yang baik dan benar dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan prioritas bagi semua yang sedang belajar bahasa. Orang menganggap bahwa seseorang berhasil dalam belajar bahasa dilihat dari kemampuan berbicaranya. Di jurusan keperawatan Poltekkes Yogyakarta, mahasiswa dituntut untuk mampu berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris yang nantinya membantu mahasiswa untuk hal terkait pembelajaran dan profesionalisme kelak. Akan tetapi, mahasiswa keperawatan di Poltekkes Yogyakarta sangat sibuk dengan jadwal kuliah mereka yang padat. Mereka hanya memiliki waktu yang singkat untuk belejar bahasa Inggris, yakni di ruang kelas. Active English for Nursing (AFORN), dikembangkan untuk mengakomodasi kebutuhan mahasiswa tersebut. AFORN adalah media pembelajaran untuk berlatih berbicara yang dapat diinstal di semua hand phone yang menggunakan system Android. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan fungsionalitas dari AFORN yang sesuai untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bagi mahasiswa. Dalam penelitian ini, ada dua permasalahan yakni 1) Seperti apakah model ikonik dari AFORN (model m- learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bagi mahasiswa keperawatan)? 2) Bagaimana AFORN mampu meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mahasiswa keperawatan?

At present, English has an indispensable preeminence because of its position as a lingua franca or an international language. With the large bulk of information delivered in English, especially news, there is a pressing necessity for Indonesian to translate. However, English, as the source language in English – Indonesian transfer seems to influence the Indonesian translation particularly in its structure. Although many studies have addressed about the hegemony of English in Indonesian, there is no study that discusses deeply about the change of Indonesian passive into active forms in translation. Therefore, this study attempts to find how the English active forms are translated into Indonesian in the terms of the grammatical norms of the target language. The findings of this study show that the translators almost always translate an English active form into an Indonesian active form instead of an Indonesian passive form.
