Some Ganoderma species are Chinese traditional medicine, one of them is G. lucidum known as lingzhi or reishi. Many of Ganoderma are identified to have antitumor, antinflamation and antimicrobial activities. However, both of their activities and the compounds whose responsible to their activities are inadequately known. Before using as medicine, a research was set up to find out its toxicity. For this purpose, research was conducted using Brine shrimp lethality test (BLST) on Artemia salina Leach on four Ganoderma species which are G. lucidum, G. australe, G. mastoporum, and G.tornatum. Fruiting body was extracted with ethanol using maseration methode. The toxicity of these extract are then screened using BLST and level of the toxicity was determined by LC50. The result indicated that G. tornatum possesed the highest toxicity (LC50 :: 39.99 ppm), followed by G. australe 1357,2 ppm, G. mastoporum ; 1963, 01 ppm, and G lucidum 7473, 07 ppm respectively. The LC50 considered to be significant if the LC50 less than 30 ppm. The study found out that G. tornatum having highest toxicity possible to produce antitumor compounds.
