In analyzing data the writer uses two techniques. They are descriptive and contrastive techniques. The result of the data analysis shows as follows: the first, English and Indonesian have similarities in their forms of basicsentencepatterns. English and Indonesian have similarities in their positions of words. The second, English and Indonesian have the differences in their functions of words. Basically, English and Indonesian have the same concept in their basicsentencepatterns. The similarities of sentence pattern between English and Indonesian can be seen in the following: S + V; S + V + O; S + V + OIO + ODO; etc. While the differences can appear in the sentence pattern S + V + C.
This study is aimed at the analysis of basicsentencepatterns in English translation of the holy Qur’an in surah Ad Dukhan. Focusing on the problem statements, there are two cases in this study. They are “What are types of the basicsentencepatterns that is found in English translation of the Holy Qur’an in surah Ad Dukhan and what is the dominant of the basicsentencepatterns types that is found in English translation of the holy Qur’an in surah Ad Dukhan. This research, applied descriptive qualitative method. The data is collected by documentation. The primary data is taken from surah Ad Dukhan in Abdullah Yousuf Ali’s English translation of the noble Al Qur’an. The secondary data is taken from many literary books and some relevant materials to support and complete the primary data source.
This sentence includes basicsentence pattern 5. This sentence is composed of only three nominal (I, my Lord, and your Lord) and one verbal (sought safety). According Tafsir Ibnu Kathir ― And truly, I seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me” Ibn Abbas, May Allah be pleased with him, and Abu Salih said,"This refers to a verbal assault, which means insults.'' Since English is termed as a subject prominent language, the subject and predicate become the basic grammar units of the sentence structures. These basic grammar units are termed as basic clause patterns which are important in the making of grammatically correct sentences or clauses to support students’ English mastery including skill development and students’ study results. Students’ English mastery is reflected through the distributions of the basic clause patterns in written composition as one of learning products. The distributions reflect students’ mastery through presenting the clause patterns commonly used, frequency of correct clauses or sentences as well as the frequency of errors. Hence, the researcher conducts the research in SMKN 2 DEPOK to find out students’ mastery over basic clause patterns. There were three research problems which are formulated, those are: (1) How are the basic clause patterns distributed? (2) What basic clause patterns are commonly used by students of SMKN 2 Depok? (3) How is the mastery of SMKN 2 DEPOK students over the basic clause patterns?
Code readability is also something that should be appreciated. Of course, one could use a design pattern and still have their code hard to read, but generally, design patterns help. Big systems are usually worked on by many people, and everyone should be able to understand what exactly is going on. Also, people who join a team are able to integrate much more easily and quickly if they are working on a well-written piece of software.
The researcher concentrates this research to analyze the sentencepatterns found in the rock songs “Estranged” and “Street of Dreams” by Guns N’ Roses. In analyzing these structures, the researcher employs a method that is a tree diagram proposed by Roberts. In addition, the researcher narrowly restricts this research in the Guns N’ Roses’ songs from album Appetite for Democracy 3D: “Estranged“ and “Street of Dreams”.
In principle, the wavelength of any electromagnetic wave can be determined if a grating of the proper spacing (on the order of %) is available. X-rays, discovered by Wilhelm Roentgen (1845–1923) in 1895, are electromagnetic waves of very short wavelength (on the order of 0.1 nm). It would be impossible to construct a grating having such a small spacing by the cutting process described at the beginning of Section 38.4. However, the atomic spacing in a solid is known to be about 0.1 nm. In 1913, Max von Laue (1879–1960) suggested that the regular array of atoms in a crystal could act as a three-dimensional diffraction grating for x-rays. Subsequent experiments confirmed this prediction. The diffraction patterns from crystals are complex because of the three-dimensional nature of crystal structure. Nevertheless, x-ray diffraction has proved to be an invaluable technique for elucidating these structures and for under- standing the structure of matter.
English sentence plays very important role in the reading text on course books for Elementary school. A reading text employs illustration word’s power to attract the attention. Sentence in reading text is presented to make clear the message based on the illustration. Therefore, people, especially students in Elementary School will easily recognize that the reading text has a sentence construction.
There were several reasons why SVOC pattern had a very low distribution frequency. The low distribution frequency of this pattern was because this pattern was considered not to be very applicable in students’ compositions that they rarely used this pattern. Moreover, this pattern requires certain verbs which can only be followed by objects and complements. The sentence We have proved him wrong (37) has the word prove as the verb which is followed by him which serves as the object and wrong which serves as the complement. Another example was Henry got his feet very wet (45). In this case, got serves as the verb, his feet serves as the object, and wet serves as the complement. These kinds of verbs become very limited and rarely used when the verbs are applied with objects and complements within the SVOC pattern. As a result, students might consider it difficult to use.
(Alwi, 2003: 358). Moreover, Ramlan (1987: 357) emphasizes about the characteristics of interrogative sentence. First, informally interrogative sentence is signed by the interrogative words: apa, siapa, berapa, mengapa, kenapa, bagaimana, kapan, mana . Second, in writing form, this sentence is signed by interrogative sign (?) in the end of sentence while in oral speaking this simple sentence is ended by increased intonation.
