Young permanent teeth could have pulp necrosis so that root growth will stop, meanwhile the tooth apex is still open, and the root canal is wider at the apex than the cervical region. The goal of Apexification treatment is to stimulate the process of forming the apex of the tooth by formation of hard tissues at the tooth apex. The purpose of this article was to report an apexification treatment case in a 12 years old child who had necrosis on tooth 22 with open apex. Apexification treatment was performed using calcium hydroxide paste.

As the next steps, all samples were marked with the buccopalatal line using a marker, then outlined with a diamond issure bur. Furthermore, the radicular was split by using chisel and mallet longitudinally into two parts to allow the reassembling process afterwards. Then a longitudinal groove with the length of 4.0 mm, the width of 0.2 mm and the depth of 0.5 mm was made with a ine diamond issure drill with the tip size of 0.2 mm and the diamond coating has been removed from the workpiece except for the 0.5 mm of the apical. The location of the groove was 2 mm in one part of the root piece (apical part) and 14 mm from the working length of the other piece (the crown). One of the hemispheres of the split radicular was given the groove on the one-third of the apical and given the water-solved calcium hydroxide mixed, as seen in Figure 1.

Preparation of raw materials. Raw skin was weighed and washed in running water for 30 min. Raw skin was soaked in a solution of 1% teepol and washed in running water for 15 min. Fleshing machine was used to remove the remaining fl esh and fat. Solution of 2% lime + 3% Na 2 S was used in unhairing process. The skin was washed with running water for 15 min and continued with the process of neutralization in a solution of 2% HCOOH (pH 7-7- 5). Sheets of skin without hair were cut into small pieces the size of 3x3 cm. The skin pieces were combined into a single (composite) for use as raw material of gelatin. Preparation of curing solution. Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH) 2 100 g/l) concentrations of 3%, 6%, and 9% (v/v) were used as treatments. Curing solution concentration of 3%, 6%, and 9% was made by dissolving Ca(OH) 2 100 g/l each of 3, 6 and 9 ml into a fl ask containing 100 ml of distilled water to limit the volume of 100 ml.

Pendahuluan: Sediaan campuran Zinc Oxide dan Eugenol merupakan bahan pengisi saluran akar yang pertama kali direkomendasikan bagi pengisian saluran akar geligi desidui, seperti yang telah dilaporkan oleh Sweet pada tahun 1930. Selanjutnya, sediaan campuran Calcium Hydroxide dan pasta iodoform yang dipercaya merupakan sediaan yang paling mendekati ideal sebagai bahan pengisi saluran akar geligi desidui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membandingkan efektifitas pasta Zinc Oxide dan Eugenol dengan campuran Calcium Hydroxide dan pasta iodoform sebagai bahan pengisi saluran akar bagi geligi desidui yang nekrosis. Metode: perawatan pulpektomi dilakukan pada 16 buah gigi desidui anterior yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan, yaitu 8 gigi sebagai kelompok pengisian saluran akar dengan pasta campuran Calcium Hydroxide dengan pasta iodoform (Metapex®, Meta, Korea)

The type of reactor used was the batch reactor which is equipped with a stirrer and a heating coil. The reactant comparison is 0.045 kg of acetone: 0.453 kg of bleaching powder. The reaction took place at a temperature of 50º C and 1 atm pressure in an exothermic reaction. Besides chloroform as the main products, the batch reactor also produces calcium acetate, calcium hydroxide and calcium chloride. In the light phase of the decanter, chloroform was produced which was then brought into the distillation tower for purification so that its purity level reaches 99%.

The present study confirms the use of chicken eggshell as a potential source of calcium for synthetic calcium phosphate. The XRD spectra indicate that the samples do not contain calcium oxide that is formed during the calcination of chicken eggshell.The synthesizing results a calcium phosphate in the form of both hydroxyapatite and type B carbonated apatite. However, at higher concentration (Sample C), type A carbonated apatite also appears. Calcination of both sample A and B releases carbonate contain in them so that there are no carbonated apatite in both samples after calcination on 800 and 900C. Contrary, carbonate still exists in sample C although it has been calcined up to 900C . This finding therefore gives additional information of previous study which observes that loss of carbonate during heating is time

Effect of Superplasticizer, Silica Fume, and Calcium Carbonate. Samples produced in first phase of the experiment containg fly ash type C and with the addition of superplasticiser, do not show any crack on the surface of the hardened paste. Heat of hydration in cement paste can be reduced with the addition of superplasticizer [15]. Reduction in heat of hydration simultaneously reduces the expansion and minimize the appearance of cracks. Silica fume can cause shrinkage on the surface of paste [16]. Samples of cement paste with the addition of silica fume tend to not having any crack on the surface. Cracks on the cement paste containg fly ash type C occur because of the expansion. The addition of silica fume in the mixture causes shrinkage; that minimizes the expansion, and thus lowers the crack development. Samples with additional calcium carbonate still produce cracks on its surface. This is because calcium carbonate generates heat of hydration on cement mixture [17]. The addition of calcium carbonate in the mixture will increase the heat of hydration, increase the expansion and lead to crack on the surface of cement paste.
