The concern for teaching thinking skills is penetrating the education system everywhere in the world. All levels of society agree that thinking skills are crucial for one to remain relevant and proficient in this fast-paced and competitive world (Lang, 2006). Physics is considered abstract, difficult, boring, unattractive, not very meaningful to students and detached from every day life. Many students who begin their physics lesson with a certain level of enthusiasm and eagerness soon change their attitude and consider the subject uninteresting and even develop aversions (Euler, 2004). However, preparing pre-service physics teachers student to teach thinking skills requires more than the generic attitude, skills, and knowledge components for effective teaching. This dispositional component is closely related to the affective dimension of a particular thinking skill, i.e., the willingness and inclination to think in a particular way (Lang, 2006).
The aim of this research his to find out the influence of visualization multimedia to the vocational students’ conceptualunderstanding and sciencegenericskills. Quasi Experiment design with pretest- posttest non-equivalent control group design was used in this reseach. The research was conducted in one of vocational school in Bandung, West Java in the academic year 2010/2011.The experimental group was a class XII (33 students), while the control class was a class XII (31 students). Sampling was conducted by random cluster sampling technique. To obtain the necessary data, instrument used were multiple choice test, questionnaire, and interview protocol. Based on the result, revealed that the visualization multimedia enhanced students' concepts understanding and critical thinking skills. The average score of the experimental class N-Gain (55.40%) is higher than the control class (43.39%).Concepts understanding of students obtained the highest in the oil concept, and the lowest was isomers. The highest mastery of students’ sciencegenericskills is indirect observation, while the lowest is logic framework of compliance with guiding principles indicator. In addition, based on the responses of students as well as teachers show that visualization multimedia is positively responded by students and makes students enthusiastic in studying of hydrocarbon.
Abstract: This study aims are to examine the effect of guided inquiry model with interactive multimedia toward genericscienceskills of students', to examine the effect of learning styles on genericscienceskills, and to examine the effect of interaction between guided inquiry models in interactive multimedia with learning style toward genericscienceskills of learners. This research including quasi experiment with 2 x 3 factorial design. The research sample was determined by cluster random sampling technique and obtained 68 students divided into 2 groups; experimental groups and control groups. Indicators of genericscienceskills studied are indirect observation, sense of scale, symbolic language, and mathematical modeling. Data were analyzed using N- gain score and two-way Anava. The results of the analysis of the N-gain test show that the experimental group has a higher sciencegeneric skill and the highest increase occurs in symbolic language indicators. The result of hypothesis analysis shows that: 1) there is influence of guided inquiry model with interactive multimedia toward genericscience skill; 2) there is no influence of learning styles on genericscienceskills; and 3) there is no interaction effect between guided in interactive multimedia assisted auxiliary model to genericscience skill.

For sure, there are many ways of learning methods, which might be applied in education. However, which appropriate method that could trigger those skills to be possessed by students? The researcher tries to use Project Based Learning Models in Integrated Science Learning in order students to posses’ 21 st century skills, and to enhance the understanding of science concept on students.

In order to compete in the market, companies have to produce the right products with a shorter time to market and at lower costs than before. Shorter time to market requires the product development process (PDP) to change the way of working from the classical &wait and react' to anticipating and preventing problems as early as possible in the development process. This requires a new, and di!erent role for the quality and reliability tests used. While in a classical PDP products could be tested when available from (pilot) production, a modern, time-driven development process requires optimisation long before larger series of products are available. Accelerated stress testing (AST) is a classical solution for the implementation of tests where product failures need to be activated faster (and cheaper) in a well- controlled environment at the early stage of the PDP. This paper reviews the classical AST strategy and some most recent AST strategies. It demonstrates that these accelerated test strategies are mainly based on generic lists of failure mechanisms and have only very limited relation with the actual failure rate curve of products. The theoretical background of the four-phase roller coaster failure rate curve is addressed and from this an alternative AST strategy is developed based on the relevant phases of the roller coaster curve using a concept called stressor-susceptibility analysis. A discussion, on the application of the proposed AST strategies and their impacts on the four-phase roller-coaster curves, is given at the end. ( 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
The findings of this study raise an important issue for universities and other institutions. It is expected that both UKM and UI provide students with genericskills during their university education. The limited generics skills revealed by this study are therefore of concern. Specifically, our study questions the assumption that genericskills are an inevitable outcome of time spent studying at university, and as discussed, this raises an issue that has received considerable attention both within and beyond HE institutions. Lecturers should make the connections between the various parts of the teaching syllabus more explicit, in order to forge stronger links between knowledge content and genericskills. At the same time, the promotion of genericskills should be highlighted as one of the strengths of graduate training at university.

Software Engineering is “big science.” Improving software engi- neering processes must be done through observation and experi- mentation in the context of where the actual products are being developed. There is a synergistic relationship between practice and research. Industrial, government, and academic organizations must partner to expand and evolve systems and software competencies. There are so many facets to software engineering that it requires multiple talents and differing expertise. We need real-world labora- tories that allow us to see the interactions among teams, processes, and products.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) menghasilkan modul pembelajaran fisika berbasis kerja laboratorium dengan pendekatan science process skills yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran; 2) Mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar dan respon siswa setelah melaksanakan pembelajaran.
This study aimed to 1) produce a physics learning modules based on laboratory work with science process skills approach that can be used in learning process; 2) determine improvemet of learning outcomes and determine student response after implementing learning.
In this strand, the process of data handling is introduced through data representation such as table, bar graph, line graph, bar chart and pie chart. For producing the graph the differences between qualitative and quantitative data are distinguished. The establishment of category is the key discussion for producing the Bar graph. The discussion of producing the line graph includes taking data at specific intervals, suitable scale used and slope. Histogram which is necessary for reading the date data representation of social study and science is also used as special type of bar chart. Average are introduced based on the idea of ratio for making the variability of histogram evenly, and used for summarizing and comparing data on table. Logical analysis to understand the whole possible cases such as tree diagram are introduced for knowing the ways of reasoning
Thinking skills in junior high school age students tend to still be on the stage of concrete. This was disclosed by observation in science learning which shows that most of the junior high school students have not be able to operate the ability to think abstractly (formal operational stage) so that students' may be have difficulties in understanding science concepts and their interrelationships. The interrelationship among concept is criteria needed in order to learn integrated science.
