Language is not only about a means of transferring information and communicating with other people, but also about main ting and establishing those relationships, making integration and social adoption and social control, and expressing oneself. Considering that statement, the language which is proper and used by more than 75 % people in this world is English, in which a lot of people speak using that language and in which amount of information and new technology are written and transferred in English. It shows that English is a crucial language. Hence, there are still more people who do not fluent in English, ether active or passive, and it brings some other people to translate it into other languages, based on the customers or readers in many countries.
dare to be feminists in order to minimize the oppression toward them. Through Francesca’s story of life in this novel, the readers will find a situation in which a woman, in this case Francesca Johnson shows her courage to solve her problems of life by sacrificing herself as a woman to lose her hopes and dream. She recognizes her position as a woman who lives in a society with it’s paradigm that there are some things that women should not do. The uniqueness of Francesca’s character is that she knows how to be a tough woman without merely complaining, and also has no anger and egoism to be understood by men or by the other, but she prefers to maintain her desire and try to put up with her life situation.
Number pro-suffrage groups sprang up in the pre-war years: Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s daughter, Harriet Stanton Blatch, founded the Equality League in 1907 and Alice Paul, who had been active in the British suffrage struggle, founded the more militant Congressional Union, which later became the Women’s Party. It was the Women’s Party that first proposed the Equal Right Amendment to Congress in 1923 – ‘Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction’- and although this move was unsuccessful, it did lay some ofthe intellectual groundwork for the second wave of American Feminism in the 1960s (Madsen, 2000: 6).
There are two kinds of data namely primary and secondary data. First, the primary data are taken from the text ofthe novel such as dialogues, characters action, and whole narration, which are relevant to the object of analysis. Second, the secondary data includes the references of some books and the internet.
Rocky desertification is a process of soil erosion leading to the bareness of bedrock, and is a kind of typical natural disaster in karst areas, which seriously constrains the developments of local society and economy. This paper studies the impact of human activities on the changes of rocky desertification. With the interpretation of remote sensing images of Fengshan County, GuangXi, China covering 1990, 1995 and 2005, this paper analyzes the relationship ofthe changes of social and economic index (including population density, agricultural population, rural per capital net income, and farmland) and the changes of rocky desertification in recent 15 years. The results indicate that: in recent 15 years, the average annual growth rate of rocky desertification, rate of change of population density, agricultural population, rural per capita net income, and farmland area are 8.7375 km² /year, 0.7 person/km 2 .year, 1153 person/year, 85 Yuan/year, and -269.1 ha/year, respectively. The first three of social and economic indicators at different degrees of growth, show a positive correlation with rocky desertification change. However, farmland area, which has been diminishing, shows a negative correlation with rocky desertification. The influence of human activities for karst rocky desertification can be regarded as population growth - steep slope reclamation - the destruction of vegetation - erosion - rocky desertification - poverty.
The torque developments of selected Dicup vulcaniza- tion of PP EPDM NR blends = = with and without HVA-2 addition are shown in Fig. 1. A sharp increase in the torque value was observed immediately after the addition of Dicup and HVA-2 after five min. Upon the completion of mixing, the torque starts to decrease gradually due to a decrease in the viscosity to more stable values. For the Dicup vulcanized blends containing HVA-2, the torques stabilizes at a higher value than Dicup vulcanized blend without HVA-2. The increase of torque is associated with the interruption exerted on the rotor by the extended cross-linking on deformability of macromolecules. This indicates that the viscosity ofthe blend increases as cross- linking took place. Besides cross-link formation, the pres- ence of HVA-2 in the Dicup vulcanization blend is also related to an increasing adhesion between the dispersed phase and the matrix. According to Dahlan et al. , the
area is entirely under the county's jurisdiction. It consists of a mix of low-to- moderate income housing, commercial property, and light industry. An interstate highway divides the area in half. The commercial property is located primarily on both sides of a major thoroughfare with residential areas located on the side streets to the east and west. Marginal uses and high vacancy rates have characterized the commercial property. Residential areas lack sanitary sewers, many side streets are unpaved, there are few sidewalks, there are open drainage ditches, and there is inadequate street lighting. Absentee landlords own a high proportion ofthe low-income rental properties. Despite exploding population growth in surrounding areas, residential areas ofthe target community have experienced little or no population growth over the last three decades. The population ofthe area is ethnically diverse with a high percentage of minorities. Because ofthe many social services found in the area (e.g. food pantries, labor pools, rescue missions), there are also many homeless people and transients. A large county jail near the area provides a continuous supply of recently released ex-offenders.
“That damn shoe,” Rosemary had said about the “Cinderella Murder” nickname. “The irony is that Susan never wore anything so flashy. She’d bought those shoes at a vintage store for a seventies party. But her agent, Edwin, thought they were perfect for the audition. If the public really needed a visual image to hang on to, it should have been her necklace. It was gold, with the sweetest little horseshoe pendant. It was found by her body, the chain broken in the struggle. We bought it for her on her fifteenth birthday, and the next day, she landed the lead role as Sandy in her high school’s production of Grease. She always called it her lucky necklace. When the police described it, Jack and I knew we’d lost our baby.”
On the other hand there are many opponent judgements concerning this issue. Firstly some authors think that growing demands on biomass based energy resources endanger equilibrium of natural ecosystems mainly in sensitive areas (e.g. tropical rainforests) . Secondly a threat is predicted that energy demands on the rise are going to increase food prices worldwide and in poorer countries it causes famine . Finally there are some sceptic opinions among professionals that these bio-fuels can never be produced economically without state subsidies (low net-energy gain) [7, 8].
Every guild recognizes its stake in protecting the public, for since the guild restricts competition, it has an obligation to guarantee standards of quality. On being invested, the officers ofthe bakers’ guild solemnly swear that they will “guard the guild” carefully and loyally, and that in appraising bread they will spare neither relatives nor friends, nor condemn anyone wrongly through hatred or ill- feeling. Officers of other guilds swear similar oaths. Guild legislation on the quality of merchandise is painstakingly detailed. Precise quantities and types of raw materials are specified and supervision follows through all the stages of manufacture and sale. Ale must have no constituents except grain, hops, and water. The beadmaker must discard beads less than perfectly round. Butchers are not to mix tallow with lard or sell the flesh of dogs, cats, or horses. Makers of bone handles are forbidden to trim them with silver lest they pass them off for ivory. Knife handles may not be covered with silk, brass, or pewter for the same reason. If a tailor spoils a piece of cloth by faulty cutting, he has to make restitution to the customer and pay a fine besides. Chandlers must use four pounds of tallow for each quarter-pound of wick, and wax tapers are not to be adulterated with lard. A tailor may not mend old clothes, for that function belongs solely to the old-clothes mender, who in turn must not make new clothes. Sometimes the old-clothes mender does such a good job that the result looks like new; therefore, to keep the distinction visible, the mender is enjoined from pressing, folding, and hanging his products like new garments.
Working capital can be considered as source of existence for all types of organizations, whether profit or non- profit organizations, therefore, it is a vital component for any profit making organizations for it influences operational level and sales volume. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of Working Capital Management Practices on Financial Performance of SMEs in Machakos Sub-County, Kenya. This study was based on these objectives: assessment ofthe influence of cash management practices on financial performance, determination ofthe influence of receivables management practices on financial performance and the analysis ofthe extent to which inventory management practices influences financial performance of SMEs. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey research design which allowed the collection of primary quantitative data through structured questionnaires and interview methods. The target population was 159 Owners / Managers of SMEs trading in Machakos Sub-County. Random sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 22 SMEs trading in Machakos Sub-County. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics.
Sometimes structural systems that are employed by the owner’s designated representative for design rely upon other elements besides the structural steel frame for lateral force resistance. For instance, concrete or masonry shear walls or precast spandrels may be used to provide resistance to vertical and lateral forces in the completed structure. Because these situations may not be obvious to the contractor or the erector, it is required in this Code that the owner’s designated representative for design must identify such situations in the contract documents. Similarly, if a structure is designed so that special erection techniques are required, such as jacking to impose certain loads or position during erection, it is required in this Code that such requirements be specifically identified in the con- tract documents.
“Equity capital(modal sendiri) represents the personal investment ofthe owner (owners) in a business and is sometimes called risk capital because these investors assume the primary risk of losing some or perhaps most their funds if the business fails. If a venture succeeds, founders and investors share in the benefits, which can be quite substantial. Debt capital is the financing that a small business owner has borrowed and must repay with interest. Some lenders consider small business to be greater risks than bigger risks than bigger corporate customers, they require higher interest rates on loans to small companies because ofthe risk- return trade off – the higher the risk, the greter the return demanded.” (Zimmerer and Scarborough, 2002).
The Galerkin weighted residuals are a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations in time. Time derivatives are discretized by either first-order backward difference or second-order trapezoid rule. The solution at each time step ofthe resulting nonlinear algebraic equations is solved by Newton iteration. Five backward difference time steps provide the necessary smoothing at the beginning ofthe computations (Zhang et al. ). The subsequent time steps employ the trapezoid rule. In addition, a predictor–corrector scheme is used that allows us to estimate the local time truncation error: an explicit Euler predictor with the first-order backward difference corrector, and a second-order Adams–Brashforth predictor with the trapezoid rule. The time step is chosen adaptively by requiring a specified time truncation error as outlined in Gresho et al. . In a typical run describing a breakup, about 30 time steps are necessary to achieve f min ≃ 10 −2 (f min , the radius ofthe neck
microbial species that cannot currently be isolated into pure culture. Metagenomics will expand our ability to discover and benefit from microbial capabilities, improve our understanding of microbial communities and probably lead to major advances in medicine, agriculture, energy production and bioremediation.
One ofthe first things to think about is the purpose ofthe bridge. Of course, the purpose of any bridge is to help travelers get from here to there. Will the bridge cross a river or highway? Will it be used by cars, by trains, or by people traveling on foot? A basic rule of design is that form follows function. In other words, the design ofthe bridge is determined by its purpose.
The National Bridge Inventory (NBI) database provides detailed bridge information with full coverage in the United States. In the database, each bridge record has an associated geographic location, which makes it possible to match the NBI records with road vectors in a geospatial database. This paper presents our approach to conflating the NBI database with U.S. Census Bureau's Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) road vectors based on a point-to-line matching algorithm, which combines both geometric and semantic similarity measurements. Experiments have shown that most NBI bridges can be successfully matched to TIGER road vectors with an overall success rate over 80%. The matched results are then used to help define linear features for bridges in the road database. The resultant road databases have enhanced bridge information and are further used in creating a 3D road database. The proposed methodology has been fully implemented and has been used in various applications.
Among the great boyars who held land areas in Neamt county in the first half ofthe XV-th century, Baico can be mentioned .This boyar, possessed seven villages: Dolheşti, Negresti, Almăşelul, Horaiţa Roşcani, Almaş and Dobreni, according to a document given by the voivodes Ştefan II and Iliaş on the 12-th of April, 1436 43 . Unlike Şarban Hândău, who received villages for „jobs” accomplished in the service ofthe voivode, this Baico had already possessed villages as an inheritance from his ancestors. At that time, the two voivodes confirmed Baico’s possessions („ocini”), for the services to the reign, as well, Alexander the Good and his sons - as stated in the document. Thus, voivode confirmation was another way the boyars kept their villages which they inherited from their predecessors. When changing the rulers, the boyars went to the royal throne to obtain confirmation of their possessions from the new ruler 44 . This aspect reinforces the fact that country's entire land belonged to voivode, that he could distribute it, or to confirm it for his subjects. However, he may seize it, in cases of treason.
It could be seen from Figure 5 that the high-speed rail line in the study area were more than 100 kilometers long and 848 PS points were screened along the high-speed subsidence zone. The trend of roadbed deformation reflected by these PS points was highly consistent with the trend ofthecounty where the line was located, and there was obvious non-uniform settlement between the sub-grade along the HR railway. In Qing County , before the fishing two village and Cangxian Zhang Zhuangzi village 10 km along the roadbed relative reached 20mm; in Cangxian Li Erzhuang village and Nanpi County north of Fengjiakou town Chen Xin village section, the relative settlement of roadbed were at amount of 30mm.The above the road section ofthe railroad had been a large relative settlement causing the
The story of this film begins when a young girl, Madison tries to kill herself in her apartment in New Orleans. Medical authorities take her to the psychiatric hospital, and she meets Dr. Elizabeth Barnes a psychiatrist who wants to help her. Madison finds many strange things happen in her life. She does not quite remember what she has been doing last night, she does not remember people, place, and she also does not remember events, she feels there is something (not human) that always looking at her, and her friends in psychiatric hospital (Alexis, Grace, Margaret) always disturbs and remind her about her past. Madison tries to find the answer why all those things happened to her. Madison leave the hospital back to her apartment, and she locks herself in apartment for thirty days, using a video camera to record herself similar to the girls in mental hospital, and she decided that she will kill herself if she does not have the answer.
