Pengaruh Bermain Game Terhadap Peningkatan Kemampuan Visual Selective Attention

Bermain game dapat memberikan dampak pada pemain-pemainnya. Tidak hanya dampak negatif, namun juga menimbulkan dampak positif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh bermain game terhadap peningkatan salah satu aspek kognitif, yaitu visual selective attention. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 37 orang yang merupakan siswa dan siswi Sekolah Dasar yang berada di tingkat ke lima dan enam. Responden terbagi ke dalam dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen (20 orang) dan kelompok kontrol (17 orang) dengan menggunakan metode random assignment. Kelompok eksperimen mendapatkan perlakuan yaitu bermain game “Don’t Tap the White Tile” pada smartphone selama tiga hari, setiap harinya dikenakan waktu bermain selama 60 menit, sementara kelompok kontrol tidak diberi perlakuan apapun.

Playing game can bring many effects on its users. But not only negative effect, playing game also bring positive effect. This study investigated the effect of playing game on the improvement of visual selective attention skill. The number of respondents in this study were 37 people who were fifth and sixth grade student. They were divided into two groups, the experiment group (20 students) and control group (17 students) by using random assignment method. The treatment that was given to experi ment group was playing “Don’t Tap the White Tile” game which already installed on respondents’ smartphones during three days, play time for each day were sixty minutes, while the control group was not given any treatment.

Keterbatasan kapasitas atensi pada manusia menyebabkan pentingnya peranan visual selective attention, sehingga memungkinkan individu untuk memilah- milah informasi yang dianggap penting. Visual selective attention merupakan penggabungan daya lihat terhadap suatu objek yang spesifik, yang dianggap menjadi area kepentingan, maka seseorang hanya merespon suatu informasi spesifik yang dianggapnya penting (Magill, 2004). Maka, dalam hal ini, visual selective attention dapat diartikan sebagai kemampuan untuk fokus.

According to these authors, the deficit in visual selective attention may be responsible for reduced reading speed and accuracy. Studies of visual attention in dyslexic groups have shown, specific deficit in exogenous orientinginvisual attention and difficulties in sustaining focused attention for efficient processing of visual information(Facoetti, Paganoni, Turatto, Marzola, & Mascetti 2000), asymmetrical distribution of attention of left and right visual fields (Facoetti, & Turatto, 2000),weakness of attentional selection in dyslexia (Roach & Hogben, 2008), deficit in visuo-spatial attention (Vidyasagar, & Pammer, 2009), spatial cueing conditions(Posner, 1980); deficit on serial visual search tasks (Iles, Walsh, & Richardson, 2000), visual search and attention (Skottun, & Skoyles, 2007), selective attention (Rayner, Murphy, Henderson, & Pollatsek, 1989), localization of visual stimuli (Graves, Frerichs, & Cook 1999), allocation of attention to rapidly-sequential stimuli (Visser, Boden, & Giaschi, 2004), visual attention (VA) span deficit (Bosse, Tainturier, & Valdois, 2007), spatial deviation of attentional weighting along with a striking reduction in perceptual processing speed (Stenneken, et. al., 2011), a general attentional deficit to visual stimuli, slower responses and longer reaction times in both the short and long cue–target interval (CTI) conditions (Heiervang, & Hugdahl, 2003), and impaired ability to process dual targets, longerattentional blink (AB) recovery time, and deficits in processing rapidly changing visual displays (Laasonen, 2012). Nonetheless Heiervang, and Hugdahl, (2003), found that the dyslexic readers did not differ from non-impaired readers, using purely visual task. Their finding is contrary to the basic visual-attentional deficit model.

Pada anak usia madia (6-11 tahun) atensinya sudah menjadi lebih selektif secara perkembangan kognitif (Berk, 2008). Atensi yang lebih selektif ini selanjutnya disebut sebagai selective attention. Selective attention menurut Matlin (2005) ketika seseorang memerhatikan pada apa yang ia kerjakan dan hanya memilih informasi/stimulus yang relevan dengan tugasnya, maka kemungkinan ia berhasil menyelesaikan tugasnya dapat lebih besar. Hal ini akan membantu anak untuk memenuhi tuntutan dan karakteristik anak sekolah dimana jika hal tersebut terpenuhi maka akan membantu memenuhi salah satu tugas perkembangan anak usia madia yaitu anak belajar keterampilan dasar yang dibutuhkan anak sekolah (Duvall, 1956). Permasalahannya adalah anak usia madia ketika proses belajar berlangsung masih mudah terdistraksi. Untuk dapat mengatasi kesenjangan ini, maka selective attention pada anak akan di optimalisasi dengan berkuda (equestrian). Berdasarkan artikel Focused Riding: The Seldom-Taught Riding Skill oleh Nancy W. Sterret, Atensi dapat meningkatkan dan ditingkatkan dengan kegiatan berkuda. Dalam berkuda, penunggang harus dapat menjaga keseimbangannya agar dapat mengendalikan kuda dengan baik sehingga penunggang perlu memusatkan perhatiannya terhadap aktifitas menunggang. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 2 orang member stable Bala Turangga. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode quasi-eksperimental. Alat ukur yang digunakan terdiri dari video, slideshow, cerita pendek, dan pemetaan. dibuat melalui pendekatan kognitif berdasarkan teori atensi khususnya tentang Selective attention dari Matlin (2005). Yang diukur adalah 2 dimensi dari selective attention yaitu visual task dan auditory task. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan disetiap treatment pada item yang diukur. sehingga selective attention dapat dioptimalisasi dengan kegiatan berkuda.

Information related to the landscape seems very poorly exploited. This leads us to discuss the second research question. The most interesting output relies on the relevance of the panorama view which has impacted the ski maps representation for decades and has led to the representation of local distortions of the mountain. The panorama seems to be relatively unexplored and the terrain draws attention if there is a trouble in comprehension: our preliminary results show that troubles in interpretation seem to be more evident in locations where there has been significant distortion (see Fig.10). The panorama view still fascinates, but contrary to conventional wisdom, the information it provides does not seem to be useful, at least in the context of the tasks that we observed.

In typical adults, the finding that face distractors are processed irrespective of perceptual load has been interpreted as evidence for the existence of a separate processing capacity for faces (Lavie et al, 2003). Further support for this idea is provided by a study showing that only the addition of other face stimuli, and not additional non-face distractors, can dilute the congruency effect (Jenkins et al., 2003). However, as these authors point out, it is possible that the separate capacity in typical adults is not innately assigned for faces but becomes face-specific because of the strong interest in faces in typical development and the resultant expertise. That is, the separate processing store may be reserved for any specialized interest, which in typical adults is social stimuli, but in ASD may be a non-social object category such as types of trains or buildings. Given that individuals with ASD often have an unusually strong, if not obsessive interest in a specific category of non-social objects, it would be interesting to examine whether a separate processing capacity exists for exemplars of a category of interest, with distractor processing continuing at high levels of perceptual load. This would be one way to test whether the lack of special status for faces in attention in individuals with ASD is a result of the lack of experience attending to faces, something which is clear from early in development and throughout childhood (e.g. Dawson et al., 2004; Klin et al., 2002; Swettenham et al., 1998).

Reliably ship detection in optical satellite images has a wide application in both military and civil field s. However, this problem is very difficult in complex backgrounds, such as waves, clouds, and small islands. Aiming at these issues, this paper explores an automatic and robust model for ship detection in large-scale optical satellite images, which relies on detecting statistical signatures of ship targets, in terms of biologically -inspired visual features. This model first selects salient candidate regions across large-scale images by using a mechanism based on biologically -inspired visual features, combined with visual attention model with local binary pattern (CVLBP). Different from traditional studies, the proposed algorithm is high-speed and helpful to focus on the suspected ship areas avoiding the separation step of land and sea. Large- area images are cut into small image chips and analyzed in two complementary ways: Sparse saliency using visual attention model and detail signatures using LBP features, thus accordant wit h sparseness of ship distribution on images. Then these features are employed to classify each chip as containing ship targets or not, using a support vector machine (SVM ). After getting the suspicious areas, there are still some false alarms such as microwaves and small ribbon clouds, thus simple shape and texture analysis are adopted to distinguish between ships and nonships in suspicious areas. Experimental results show the proposed method is insensitive to waves, clouds, illumination and ship size.
