Another research conducted by Muniarsih, titled TheCorrelationbetween students‟ motivation in Readingand Their Reading Speed. This study focused on finding out the significance of thecorrelationbetween motivation in readingand speed reading. The population of this study was second semester students of English Education Department UIN SyarifHidayatullah Jakarta andthe sample was taken by random sampling technique. The instruments of this study were questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was used to take data about students reading motivation. It asked closed-ended questions which used Likert Scale. Then, students were tested by speed reading test to know the speed reading score. The data was analyzed by Pearson Product Moment. The result shows that there is correlationbetween students‟ motivation in readingand their reading spe ed.

This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population was all second semester students of English Education Department in Sebelas Maret University. The sample was class B consisting of 33 students. The sample was chosen by using cluster random sampling. Tests for testing vocabulary mastery andreading comprehension and a questionnaire about reading attitudes were used to collect data. Regression andCorrelation techniques, both single and multiple, were used for analyzing data.
