Kesimpulan

Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik dari hasil penelitian ini adalah :

1. Penggunaan SIG memudahkan baik dalam proses pengambilan data di lapangan maupun pada tahap analisis data. Dengan SIG akan diperoleh ketepatan dan keakuratan hasil pengukuran karakteristik pulau.

2. Penggunaan metode koleksi intensif untuk koleksi semut cukup efektif untuk menggambarkan kekayaan spesies semut di Kepulauan Seribu.

3. Jumlah plot pengambilan contoh yang diperlukan pada pulau dengan kondisi habitat heterogen lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan habitat yang homogen, walaupun demikian pada pelaksanaanya jumlah plot dibatasi untuk efisiensi pelaksanaan penelitian di lapangan.

4. Keanekaragaman semut di Kepulauan Seribu dipengaruhi oleh berbagai karakteristik pulau yaitu luas area, jarak isolasi pulau, jenis penggunaan lahan, dan keberadaan dermaga pada pulau tersebut. Kombinasi keseluruhan karakteristik pulau mempengaruhi keanekaragaman semut di Kepulauan Seribu.

5. Pola distribusi dan keberadaan spesies semut di Kepulauan Seribu juga dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik pulau. Spesies semut cryptic berpotensi digunakan sebagai indikator karena hanya ditemukan pada karakteristik pulau tertentu. Gangguan habitat menyebabkan hilangnya spesies semut tertentu pada beberapa pulau di Kepulauan Seribu.

Saran

Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai rujukan untuk penelitian selanjutnya. Di antara hal-hal yang dapat disarankan adalah :

1. Jumlah plot minimal untuk pengambilan contoh semut pada pulau-pulau di Kepulauan Seribu adalah 20 plot. Hal tersebut untuk mendapatkan nilai prediksi kekayaan semut yang tinggi di setiap pulaunya. Diperlukan jumlah plot lebih banyak pada pulau dengan jenis penggunaan lahan heterogen.

2. Tidak ditemukannya spesies endemik pada penelitian ini menjadi informasi penting untuk penelitian selanjutnya. Sensus pada keseluruhan habitat yang ada pada suatu pulau akan memperbesar kemungkinan menemukan spesies endemik di Kepulauan Seribu.

3. Pengaruh keberadaan spesies semut invasif pada pulau dapat dipelajari lebih mendalam pada penelitian selanjutnya. Berdasarkan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada kecenderungan keanekaragaman semut pada suatu pulau dipengaruhi oleh keberadaan spesies invasif pada pulau tersebut.

4. Tidak adanya spesies semut Odontoponera denticulata menarik untuk dipelajari lebih lanjut, dengan mengingat bahwa spesies semut ini dominan dan umum ditemukan di Pulau Jawa.
