PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR SYSTEM EXPRESSION IN BOVINE MAMMARY GLAND: IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL
The aim of this work is to evaluate the expression of PAs in 50 mammary glands and 50 milk samples of healthy Friesian cows from a herd in the Piedmont region. The milk fractions were analyzed using a colorimetric test for plasmin, plasminogen and plasminogen activator (PA).
AND BIOCHEMICAL EVALUATIONS
The increase in the number of animals affected by scrapie in Italy since 1997 prompted a retrospective investigation of the neurological disorders of these species at the Department of Animal Pathology in Turin. In the differential diagnosis of scrapie, coenurosis is the most common pathology that causes chronic neurological disorders in the pet.
SMALL RUMINANTS NEUROPATHOLOGY
This result suggests the importance of constant surveillance, especially for viral and parasitic infections of these species.

Canine aural cholesteatoma (AC) is a rare, destructive lesion of the middle ear that parallels human acquired cholesteatoma. In our case, cholesteatoma epithelium overexpressed CK16, consistent with the proliferative nature of the lesion.

L IVER AND S PLEEN R UPTURE IN H YPERIMMUNE S ERUM P RODUCING H ORSES
The purpose of the study. The purpose of the present study was to determine the rate and importance of liver and spleen rupture in horses producing hyperimmune serum. A retrospective study was carried out on 50 necropsy reports made over a period of 5 years, from 1998 to 2003, on dead horses at the Razi Institute. Introduction. Rupture of the liver/spleen is an occasional accident in animals, usually occurring as a result of trauma.
Autopsies of horse carcasses revealed that; in four cases (8%) liver rupture and in one case (2%) spleen rupture caused severe internal bleeding that led to death. The aim of this study was to determine the type, severity and frequency of gross and histopathological changes and tissue tropism in chickens after intratracheal (IT) inoculation with Iranian avian influenza virus (AIV) isolate.

MULTIPLE MYELOMA, PSAMMOMATOUS MENINGIOMA AND SENILE LIPOFUSCINOSIS IN A DOMESTIC CAT
Heavy deposits of lipofuscin were found in neurons of the cerebrum and spinal cord, in Purkinje cells, and in ganglion cells of spinal nerve roots. Failure was manifested by aplasia or hypoplasia of medullary thymus epithelial cells. Results: Microscopic examination showed two cases of characteristic neoplastic proliferation of thymic epithelial cells.
Conclusion: The neoplastic proliferation of the thymus epithelial cells may be the primary cause of the animal's death due to immunodeficiency syndrome or other complications due to the localization of tumors. The comparison of the labeling results with the donor blocks and the morphological classification of the lymphomas is ongoing.

P ORCINE D ERMATITIS N EPHROPATHY S YNDROME (PDNS): PCR-
In addition to systemic vasculitis leading to hemorrhage and skin necrosis, all pigs exhibited an acute necrotizing glomerulonephritis often accompanied by sclerosis of other glomeruli. The aim of the study was to demonstrate PCV-2 in the skin, lymph nodes, spleen, kidneys and glomeruli isolated by polymerase chain reaction. Glomeruli were isolated from formaldehyde-fixed renal cortex tissue using a simple microdissection technique.
In other cases, some lesions were seen inside the vessels, which were due to the presence of various parasitic agents. These lesions were as follows: chronic proliferative endoarthritis, prevascular cuffs in most vessels, phlebothrombosis, and interstitial pneumonia.

T HREE C ASES OF C ANINE A NAPLASTIC L ARGE C ELL L YMPHOMA (ALCL)
The clinical data show, in two cases, tumor localization in the skin (primary cutaneous type) and in one case systemic involvement (primary systemic type). In human and veterinary medicine, retinoids have been shown to be effective in treating MF when retinoid receptors are present. Immunohistochemistry for CD3 and CD79, in both cases, was CD3+CD79 -, giving the T-cell lineage of the neoplastic cells.
The presence of RARs and RXRs suggests that, as in humans, the use of specific ligands (latest generation retinoids/bexarotene), may be effective in the treatment of MF in dogs. In their presence, an effective response to retinoid treatment may open new horizons in the battlefield of veterinary oncology tumors.
