His strength slowly waned and he died quietly on the evening of May 20. Per vagina, the uterus feels small and not nodulated, and the body of the uterus feels hard and wrinkled. November 10.-The proportion of faces passing per rectum compared to the false anus, is smaller than at the date of the last report.

About one-third of the evacuations pass through the rectum, and the other two-thirds through the false anus. I concluded that this obstruction was caused by the existence of curvature or distortion of the cervix. A few drops of pus escaped, which was conclusive evidence of the nature of the tumor.

in June, then the ovum would be attached to the ovary and the fimbriated end of the fallopian tubes. Also, that the General Board is authorized to obtain legal advice, if necessary, in the prosecution of an objection against the granting of a mandate. At the same time as the application by the Chinese, another application was filed.

We quote from the report of the application published in The Argun of June 30. Every graduate who is admitted to the degree of Master of Surgery, then becomes a member of the senate of the said University." It was determined that the answer from the University should be considered at the next weekly meeting.

REVIEW

We need hardly say that those who had a clearer recollection of the author's antecedents were not so sanguine. Worse still is that it is a reflex in any degree of the. Boards, no more than individuals, can be expected to be infallible in their judgment of the capacity of those with whom they deal.

The research naturally presents itself as a report to the Board, and which was published in their regular number of Transactions, appears as a volume sent by the compiler of the report. The whole book in short is an illustration of the old adage "all clothes and no dinner." For example, if someone has done what he considers wrong, regarding the name of Typhus, a table should be built to confuse him. One might imagine that the author had a mind to dispose of his library, and had taken this indirect way of publishing a catalog of his books; for, with the exception of those parts of the work devoted to a record of his cases of typhus, and to the disgrace of his enemies, it would be.

As examples of the "high-falutin" style in which the book is written, we cut out some of its more elaborate flourishes. 34; All the more significance is due to this episode, because of the official influence of my new protege in the study of typhus. Budd is at once a proof of how utterly deprived he is of the power of originality and of the pretentiousness of his claims to dictate to others.

The medical student in charge of the operation removed the intestine from the abdominal cavity, tied the upper end to a faucet and turned on the stream. If what has been said in this work about the properties of this yellow thing is true, it is tragic to think of the possibilities that may have sprung from this action.” On page 164 of Mr. Then the same precision can be reached during life from carefully noted thermometry; so much so that no man's opinion of the diagnosis of typhus by symptoms during life is acceptable who does not produce the thermometrical record of his cases." He wishes it to be understood that in the living body the thermometrical record is the only reliable test; in the dead the ulceration of the glands.

But there is no hint of thermometry in the cases of the medical men who sent answers. Is it to be wondered at that the Central Board of Health refused to be convinced of the genuine nature of certain of its own cases, on the basis of which it wanted authority to compel certain milkmen and clothiers to supply it with the names of their customers , to see if typhus exists among them. Bend Lunatic Asylum, is as good an example of the summary disposition of inconvenient facts as can be well devised.

The narrator of the cases indulges in some speculations about rosy spots on the body after death, which seems to be considered a rarity. We prefer not to attribute motives, but the design of the book is so clear that it just reiterates what everyone feels by saying that this is nothing but a very transparent advertisement.

Government attention has recently been drawn to the prevalence of puerperal fever at Sandhurst. At the meeting of the Central Committee for Health on June 23, Dr. Sirja received the following message: — It is an honor to address you as President of the Central Committee of Health on a subject which he cannot.

My object on this occasion is to draw the attention of the board to the results of an experiment which I have recently attempted with a view to testing the disinfectant properties of olive oil in urine. To-day (June 4th), the urine, with the exception of a rather copious deposit of mucus at the bottom of the vessel, is clear and normal in appearance, and entirely free from any offensive odor; and what strikes me as remarkable is that there is. The danger to health arising from the sale of diseased meat was brought to the notice of the Central Board of Health on June 15, by a member of the market committee of the City Corporation.

Arons stressed that so many cases of sale of meat unfit for human consumption had been reported to the committee that it had become very serious. The meat came from suburban slaughterhouses and the Central Council was able to deal with the case by appointing an inspector. Since the city council had no jurisdiction beyond their borders, it was hoped that the central council would appoint an inspector, whose salary would be paid by the suburban councils.

M'Crea was prepared to do so if provision was made in the Health Act, but not otherwise. M'Crea on the manner in which the law should be amended, and further proposals were made by Messrs. M'Crea was of opinion that the law should be amended so as not only to prohibit the sale of unwholesome food, but also to provide for the punishment of persons who offered sprayed or blown meat, the Central Council or local councils to appoint officers, and the police to be under the direction of the Council.
