• Graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. Since then he has had extensive academic and practical experience in veterinary science.
• Has Board Certification in Cardiology and was a Professor of Medicine at the University of Georgia from 1984 to 2000.
• Started his own specialty practice in 2000, primarily cardiology and selected areas of internal medicine, in Athens, Georgia.

• Relate findings of cardiopulmonary examination and the results of diagnostic evaluations to the fundamental
cardiorespiratory physiology and pathophysiology.
• Differentiate cardiac and respiratory disease from each other and from diseases of other body systems.
• Competently investigate, diagnose, and manage common cardiac and respiratory diseases in dogs and cats.
• Advise owners of possible options and outcomes.
• Distinguish when the case should be referred.
• Retrospectively analyse and critique case management in the light of current literature.
