This paper enables students to operate a software package (Flash MX 2004) for the manipulation of images and sound to create interactive and animated output. Students will be introduced to relevant computing concepts and provided with software
tutorials and related exercises.
Timetable
Lectures are Monday 10-11am in A.G.30. Labs are held Tuesday 9-11am and Thursday 9-11am in Lab 3 (RG.10) and lab 4 (RG.11).

Attendance Policy
Class attendance is expected and monitored.
Expected Workload
This course is worth 15 points. There is 1 lecture and 4 hours of timetabled labs per week. In addition, students are expected to spend 1-2 hours per week working in the lab unsupervised and at least 4 hrs/week studying out of class.
Handouts
The course notes are by no means comprehensive. You are expected to find any additional relevant material (e.g. online help, examples from the Internet, reference books) yourself.
Assessment
Practicals (14) 30%
Assignment 1 25% Due: Thu 3rd August (Week 4)
Project proposal 5% Due Thurs 21st Sept (Week 9, in the lab) Project progress demo 10% Due Tues 3rd October (Week 11, in the lab) Final Project 30% Due: Thu 12th October (Week 12)
All classes must be attended and all assessments completed on the due date.
Exceptions will only be made for students with a medical certificate.
Feedback
Concerns or complaints should be expressed in the first instance to the course
lecturer. Suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Thereafter problems are dealt with by the Chairperson of the Department and if still unresolved the Dean and then ultimately the Vice Chancellor.

All students involved in misconduct connected with assessment will receive zero marks for their work. Their behaviour will be documented for forwarding to the University Disciplinary Committee. Where appropriate, students are responsible for protecting their intellectual property, including computer disc files.
