PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Congratulations to all school athletes who have made it through to Met West Regionals. Give it your best over the three days so you make it to States.

I must thank and congratulate Ipswich City Councillor Andrew Antoniolli for accepting the role of Club Patron. Andrew has been a true supporter of the Club for many years and is worthy of the office.

Sad to hear that tough Masters and loyal Club athlete Darrin Norwood has been forced into early retirement due to stress injuries. He has been competing with excellent performances so it must be a frustrating time for him.

Best wishes too are extended to Australian Rep, Glen Yarham, as he recovers from his injuries.

We all hope the recovery is going well and we will see him competing soon.

The planned development of a Commonwealth Games Squad will go ahead. Club coaches will be meeting to develop a selection criteria.

There will be a new scale of fees for Qld Athletics membership introduced before the new season begins.

This will be significantly different from past membership.

Have a good month and hope your training is going well. Bailey.

PS

It will be important to see the New Fee Structure so you know what your money will buy……

Congratulations!

FAQ1. Do I need to be a club member?

If you join as a Platinum, Traditional Member or Out of Stadium Member you will need to join a QA affiliated club at the time of registration. This will be an additional fee with each club having their own club fee structures. Information on each club and their club fees is located on the QA registration system and will be available on the QA website.

Pay As You Go and Dual Membership athletes may compete in a maximum of 3 QA competitions before they are required to join a club.

2. I want to join as a Pay As You Go member, am I still insured?

Yes, all membership types are full members of QA and have the same insurance coverage until the end of the registration year (30 September 2013).

3. If I start as a Pay As You Go but want to change to a Platinum or Traditional Membership is there a discount?

No, you will need to pay the full amount so please choose your membership category to best suit your needs and ability to pay.

4.Why the new system?

We believe that athletics needs to position it’s memberships to cater for consumer needs. We have looked at best practices in the sport and fitness industry and worked to develop a flexible system that caters to a wide range of individuals. We believe that our new system provides for “no barrier to participation”.

Our new registration system is also aligned to the 2012-2013 competition dates with “All-comers”

competitions dominating the earlier part of the season. This facilitates the utilisation of the Pay As You Go Membership to attract new members to come and try our sport with only a small upfront payment.

5. Wow, that Platinum Membership seems like a great deal. Does it really include free entry into all QA competitions?

Yes it includes free entry into all QA competitions held in South Queensland. It also includes free entry into Queensland Championships and a ticket to the Queensland Track Classic. There will be some competitions conducted by clubs that will require you to pay an entry fee, however, if you see ‘QA’ in the name of the meet then it is free.

We see the Platunum Membership as a way of rewarding athletes that compete often. Pay one fee upfront and you will not need to pay again to compete in a QA event for 12 months.

**** Please note a Club fee is applicable when joining.****
