Department of Education Brisbane, 1 5th December, 1988 HIS Excellency the Governor, acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council and in pursuance of the provisions of the Education (Consultation on Curriculum) Act 1988, has been pleased to make the following regulations.

PART I-PRELIMINARY
1. Citation and commencement. (1) These regulations may be cited as the Education (Consultation on Curriculum) Regulations 1988.
(2) These regulations shall commence on 19th December, 1988.
2. Arrangement. These regulations are arranged as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY (regs. 1-3);
PART 11-MEMBERSHIP OF THE COUNCIL (reg. 4);
PART 111-ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE COUNCIL AND COMMITTEES (regs. 5-7).
3. Interpretdion. In these regulations, unless the contrary intention appears-
"Committee" means a standing committee or sub-committee appointed pursuant to section 6 (1)

of the Act;"the Act" means the Education (Consultation on Curriculum) Act 1988.
PART 11-MEMBERSHIP OF THE COUNCIL
4. Procedure for nomination of certain members. (1) The nomination for the Council to be made pursuant to section 5 (1) (c) of the Act shall c ~ n s i s t of one person whose name is submitted as a result of the decision of a meeting convened and conducted by a person nominated by the
Minister for the purpose, such meeting to be attended by representatives, in number as determined by the person so nominated, of-
(a) the Association of Independent Schools in Queensland;
and
(b) Queensland schools other than State schools, Catholic schools and other schools affiliated with the Association of Independent Schools in Queensland.
(2) For the purposes of subregulation (I), the person nominated by the Minister to convene and conduct the meeting may conduct such meeting: using telecommunication or other means which, in that person's opinion, is appropriate for that purpose.
PART 111-ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE COUNCIL AND COMMITTEES
5. Quorum of the Couxadl. For the purposes of section 18 of the Act, a quorum of members of the Council required to constitute a meeting of the Council shall be one-half, or if one-half is not a whole number, the whole number next higher than one-half of the total number of members for the time being of the Council.
6. Quorum of a committee. A quorum of members of a committee required to constitute a meeting of the committee shall be one-half, or if one-half is not a whole number, the whole number next higher than one-half of the total number of members for the time being of a committee.
7. Manner, of exercising power of a committee. (1) A committee shall exercise a power or authority or perform a duty or function by majority vote of its members present and voting at the meeting at which such exercise or performance is to occur.
(2) A member who abstains from voting shall be deemed to have voted for the negative.
(3) The chairman of a committee shall have a deliberative vote and, in the event of an equality of votes, a casting vote.
