David Wagner (Whippet)
David has been a very successful middle distance runner all his life with many credits to his name, including notably:
Wins at TAL 1600m 1983 ,1984 and 1978. In Total David has been successful 11 times at the 1600m and 5x at masters 300m.
He has also been extremely competitive in 800M (1:53) 1500m (4:00:2) 5000m (15:00) 10000m (32.02) and completed the Scottsdale to Bridport half marathon in 67.34m
He has also medaled in the Australian Masters Championships in the 1000 and 5000m events. David has completed nearly 200 runs with LRC and has won 2 feature races in his time with them.
David still runs regularly with Masters and at Park run, even though he has had a hip replacement!
Notable coaching achievements
David has only had the occasional non-masters athlete in his group and has only been training a small group of mature age athletes until now. He coached Skye Baker to her win in the Girls U14 Cross Country at the Symmons Plains All Schools in 2014 and Kate Maloney to her top 10 finish in the same year. He has also coached several masters’ athletes to podium finishes in their age group both at state and national level.
David has a Cert 2 in Coaching is now expanding his interest to include younger runners and welcomes runners from 12 years and older to his team
