The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) understands that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way many senior students are accessing their learning.

We’ve prepared some suggestions to help you with your studies.

Resources to support preparation for assessment

Assessment type Suggestions to support learning from home Investigation

(Technical proposal) (IA1)

• Review the Internal assessment 1 (IA1) section of the subject report that can be found on the Teaching tab on the Digital Solutions subject page. Focus on the samples of effective practices.

• Review the sample Investigation (Technical proposal) (IA1) on the Assessment tab on the Digital Solutions subject page.

• Continue to research a specific problem through collection, analysis and synthesis of information.

• Iteratively explore, develop, generate and evaluate low-fidelity prototypes of user interfaces, algorithms and data in response to the identified problem.

• Identify a single low-fidelity prototype digital solution.

• Evaluate impacts against prescribed and self-determined criteria. Make refinements to improve your non-coded prototype solution and make recommendations based on testing data and any feedback you may have collected.

• Communicate the technical feasibility of the solution through a multimodal presentation.

Suggested resources to support understanding of the subject matter:

• User interface design basics www.usability.gov/what-and-why/user-interface- design.html

• Interaction Design Foundation, ‘Usability’ www.interaction- design.org/literature/topics/usability

• State Library of Queensland eresources www.slq.qld.gov.au/research- collections/information-collections/eresources.

Project (Digital

solution) (IA2) • Review the Internal assessment 2 (IA2) section of the subject report that can be found on the Teaching tab on the Digital Solutions subject page. Focus on the samples of effective practices.

• Review the sample Project (Digital Solution) (IA2) on the Assessment tab on the Digital Solutions subject page.

• Continue documenting your application of the iterative problem-solving process in response to the technical proposal document supplied by your teacher.

• Explore the need, want or opportunity to analyse and understand the digital problem and its relationship to existing solutions.

• Develop ideas about components and solutions using design, systems, and abstraction and algorithmic computational thinking processes.

• Generate a prototype digital solution, combining the user interface, data and coded components.

• Evaluate impacts against prescribed and self-determined criteria. Make refinements to improve your prototype solution and make recommendations based on testing data and any feedback you may have collected.

Project (Folio) (IA3) • Review the IA3 sample task and response that can be found on the Assessment tab on the Digital Solutions subject page. Focus on how to structure a response into three parts.

• Continue documenting your application of the iterative problem-solving process in response to the task and any supplied stimulus. Continue to collate your work into three parts as per the syllabus specifications.

• Explore the exchange of data between two different digital systems.

• Develop ideas about components and solutions using design, systems, and abstraction and algorithmic computational thinking processes.

• Generate components of the data exchange solution that simulates the

exchange of data between two digital systems and ensure the solution receives data in one format and programmatically transforms it into another format for sharing/displaying.

• Evaluate and refine components and the digital solution.

Suggested resources to support understanding of the subject matter:

• Australian Privacy Principles www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/australian-privacy- principles

• Australian Cyber Security Centre www.cyber.gov.au.

External

assessment (EA) • Review past papers and the sample external assessment that can be found on the Assessment tab on the Digital Solutions subject page.

• Review the External assessment section of the subject report that can be found on the Teaching tab on the Digital Solutions subject page. Focus on

- examples of effective student responses and practices

- practices to strengthen, including recommendations to consider when preparing for external assessment.
