Riverside Fair: Reconnect at Tweed Junction - Sunday 6 November 2022
Event Accessibility
The street party outdoor location is suitable for wheelchairs and wheeled mobility aids.
Tumbulgum is a dog friendly village. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Many activities are inclusive of people of all ages and abilities and will be supervised by qualified people. Some crafts like clay modelling, are tactile in nature. The wildlife walkabout also offers a close-up supervised tactile experience.
Some performers such as the whip cracker, hula-hoopers, stilt walkers and water display provide quality visual entertainment.
There will be a special laser light show after sunset. Please note that the laser light show is controlled by an experienced operator. Images are projected across the river onto vegetation. Images are slow moving and set to music.
Sensory warning: Please be aware there will be, on occasion, flashing lights associated with the laser show and as well as sirens and loud noises such as whip cracking. Two quiet spaces are available and detailed below under the heading “Access Services”.
Accessible toilets are available at the following three locations:
1. Existing public toilets behind Tumbulgum Hall on Government Road 2. Existing amenities at the Tumbulgum Tavern, and
3. An additional accessible portable toilet at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Fawcett Street within the road closure boundary.
Access services
Two quiet areas / break out spaces are available in the event vicinity. The first is in the Riverside Park, north of the precinct. The second is behind the Tumbulgum Hall on Government Road and includes a children’s playground.
Both quiet areas are outdoors.
Getting here
A designated drop-off zone is located on Riverside Drive near the Tumbulgum Tavern at the southern end of the precinct. Designated accessible parking spaces are available on Government Road outside the Tumbulgum Hall.
General parking will be available along Government Road, and streets within the village and on its approaches.
Surfside / Kinetic Buslines provides a bus service – Bus No 605 between Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads, that travels through Tumbulgum Village via Riverside Drive every 2 hours on Sundays. Mobility
The site is mostly level hard surface. Ramps are available where there is a change of level. Please be aware that there is an uneven surface in the lot with marquees and children’s activities. There also a gradient and uneven surface along the grassed river foreshore area on the border of the event.
The dance floor is wheelchair accessible.
Accessible seating
Different seating options will be located around the venue. Chairs are able to be moved about and wheelchairs and mobility aids can be used at tables where available. Lower and softer seating like cane mulch bales covered by blankets will be located in different areas around the event.
