BY-LAWS OF THE QUEENSLAND INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Under the direction of the Director, the Registrar will - (a) be responsible for the general administration of the Institute; The Council may adopt rules to implement all or part of the provisions and objectives of this Regulation.

RULES RELATING TO STUDENT MATTERS

Principal' means a member of the academic staff appointed and so designated by the Council. An applicant whose application for enrollment has been amended will have a right of appeal to the Head of the School.

GENERAL EXAMINATION RULES

DEFINITIONS

DETERMINATION AND NOTIFICATION OF ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS

The Registrar may prescribe the date on which all Central Examination papers to be prepared by examiners must be sent to the Examinations Department within the Registrar's Office and the form in which such papers will be received. a) The Registrar shall be responsible for the preparation of a timetable for all Central Examinations and for the publication of this timetable as required by these rules. No amendment to a timetable for Central Examinations will be accepted after distribution of student examination forms referred to in Rule 8(a). a) At least two weeks before the start of the Central Examination Period, the Registrar sends each student an examination form indicating all the subjects in which the student is enrolled in the current semester, a statement as to whether the subject has a Central Examination Period. Examination scheduled and the date and time of the examination in those subjects which will be examined centrally.

Part IV. ELIGIBILITY TO UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENT PROVISIONS

The Registrar may fix the date by which the Heads of Departments shall inform the Registrar of the names of students declared excluded under this rule and, after receiving advice from the relevant Departments, will notify the students of their exclusion in writing by inviting them to show cause within a specified date why disqualification should not be confirmed. A student who is declared ineligible by the school principal has the right to appeal to the principal.

DEFERRED EXAMINATIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION

A candidate may not leave an examination room before the examination session without permission from a supervisor. A person, whether a candidate or not, shall not do anything intended to assist another person taking an examination to cheat or otherwise frustrate the purposes of the examination.

Part VII. PLAGIARISM

Based on the results given by the Head of Department, the Registrar will give each Academic Board. The Academic Board responsible for the subject in which the student is registered must notify the registrar of a final result no later than two weeks (or six weeks with the approval of the Academic Board) after the start of the next semester.

Subject to the overall control of the Director and the Institute Council, the Chief Librarian will do so. Any person requesting permission to use the library under Rule 5(a)(iv) must submit a written request to the head of the law school.

CENTRAL SERVICES

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Users should consult the Program Library Catalog for details on the wide range of packages available. The collections therefore reflect the courses taught and the research orientations of the university staff.

STUDENT SERVICES

Billiards, amusement machines and table tennis facilities are available for Union members' use in the Games Room on Level 1 of the Community Building from 8.30am. Since the establishment of the Union there has been a gradual increase in the number of clubs and associations.

INSTITUTE FUNCTIONS

The QIT Admissions and Administrative Services Division, under the direction of the Deputy Secretary, is responsible for publications that provide easily accessible information to the general public. Other publications relating to the specific tasks of the Institute are- - The Queensland Tertiary Courses Booklet.

ADMISSION POLICY and ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Degree or diploma from a recognized university or CAE with relevant major in accounting, provided that in case of a degree, the head of the accounting department may require additional work. The third character indicates the level of the subject in which the subject is taught.

On receipt of the examiners' reports, the Academic Engineering Council must: a) reminds the Board that a Master's Degree in Engineering is awarded to the student, after any minor amendments requested by the examiners have been made;. The following rules relate to the Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental and Municipal Engineering and are made by decision of the Institute Board.

Students are expected to attend scheduled lectures, practical work and other work and apply for a leave of absence if they cannot maintain sufficient attendance. In order to obtain a diploma in Environmental and Municipal Engineering, a registered student must have completed at least 33 semester hours of approved subjects in a program that has been approved by the head of department to the satisfaction of the Engineering Academy Committee.

Powers and Duties of a Municipal Engineer ONE approved subject from other Graduate Diploma courses taught by the QIT, available only on individual application to the Head of Department. The following rules apply to the Graduate Diploma in Automatic Control and are established by decision of the Institute Council.

The method of assessment provides for formal semester and deferred examinations as well as written tests, oral tests, general assignments, laboratory reports, design work and projects. ASSOCIATE DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING

Employment - part-time students

One after the subject name can be given in the full-time courses on the basis of suitable work experience. A student who, in any subject, fails to attend 80% of the total teaching, or to submit 80% of all practicals or assignments required in any subject, may be considered by the Head of School to be unable to take semester examinations.
