In our annual Teacher magazine reader survey, we ask you to share one piece of advice with
a fellow educator. In this infographic, we share some of the responses
we received about planning.
From one teacher to another
PLANNING
'Rubrics can be a
pain to build, but if you put the time and energy into getting it
right(ish) the first time, it'll make marking and evidence
gathering much easier.'
'Have a teacher planner and use it daily (at least school days) ... It gives you a
great overview of how your day will pan out!'
'Plan your week.
Plan your lessons well, plan when you are going to
complete professional tasks...'
'Always be flexible
with your planning... Follow
your plan, do your best teaching, but if something doesn't go to
plan, reflect on it and learn from it.'
'Be flexible – the best laid plans can and will need
to be adjusted to fit the moment at hand.'
'Read the room!
The best plans often don't work out because we have planned them for
a hypothetical class group.'
'Work with
co-workers! Share the planning and teaching load. Do not try to do it
all on your own!'
