Purpose
To support students who are commencing their fourth year of study in a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree and who intend to practice in New Zealand.
Value and Tenure
The value of the grant will be $4,000. The grant is tenable for two years, with the second- year conditional upon the recipient’s grades and the funds available.
Typical Number on Offer
Typically, one grant will be awarded per year
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
• enrolled in the 4th year of a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree
• intending to practice in New Zealand.
Preference may be given to a student residing in the Kaipara Valley area.
Selection Criteria
The selection will be based on the applicant’s experience and references.
Preference will be given it students who are interested in general practice with an emphasis on large animals and/or production animal medicine.
Selection Panel
The grant is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Kaipara Veterinary Service Committee.

Conditions of the Grant
The second year of the award will be dependent upon the student passing the fourth year of the course and on available funding.
It is expected that the successful candidate shall participate in at least 2 weeks seeing practice’ with Vets North in Helensville
The grant will be paid in April/May
