MAYORAL MINUTE NO 3/2022
VALE JUDY CADMAN 22 FEBRUARY 2022
Councillors,
It was with great sadness that The Hills community learned of the passing of Judy Cadman on Tuesday the 15th of February 2022, aged 83 years. Judy was born in Leeton on the 15th of February 1938 and grew up in Dubbo, becoming a teacher. Judy met Alan Cadman and they were married for 61 years, spending the majority of their married life in Galston.
Alan and Judy Cadman have served The Hills community for over 50 years. As the longest serving Member for Mitchell, Alan made an unmatched mark on The Hills community over his 33 years in Federal Parliament. Alan is universally respected by Hills residents and community groups.
Alongside Alan every step of the way was an incredible woman, Judy Cadman. Judy was a woman who was very humble and a dedicated servant of The Hills community. She regularly represented Alan at functions when he could not attend.
Judy had a passion for the arts – performing, playing organ and piano and making church banners. Judy was one of the founders of the Dural Musical Society, and was a strong performer on stage.
Judy had a special talent for making banners for churches. She made over 150 banners, with many going to the Galston Uniting Church but most being donated throughout The Hills district and some going even as far away as North Queensland.
Judy was also a long time member of the Country Women’s Association, serving on their State Executive and being elected as a life member.
Judy Cadman was a kind hearted and loving woman who has an incredible record of service to this community, but true to her humble nature, never sought recognition for herself. The Hills community are poorer for the loss of Judy Cadman. I would like to pass on my condolences to the entire Cadman family, her husband Alan, sons Stephen and Andrew and the extended family.
Accordingly, I move that;
MOTION
1. This Mayoral Minute be received.
2. A minute silence be observed in respect of Judy Cadman.
