Changes to Arts training packages

Purpose

To tell schools about the changes to the CUF07 Screen and Media and CUE03 Entertainment training packages, and possible registration requirements following a revision of the endorsed training

packages.

Background

In late October and early November 2010, the qualification packaging rules for all arts training

packages were updated. All arts training packages should be reviewed to ensure that current versions are being delivered to new students enrolled in 2011.

There are now new versions of the CUF07 Screen and Media Training package and CUE03 Entertainment Training package. Elective units of competency have been grouped into two types, Group A and Group B electives. The qualification packaging rules have also been adjusted to reflect these changes. The changes to the training packages that affect most schools are minor.

Information

CUF07 Screen and Media

The packaging rule for CUF20107 Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) has been altered and now restricts the units of competency that can be linked to the qualification. There is now a defined list of units of competency which can be selected. There is an option for selecting two additional elective units; however, these units must be at the same Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level as the qualification. These units of competency must be AQF level II units (e.g. CUFIND201A — the first number identifying the AQF level. In this case it states the number “2”.)

CUE03 Entertainment

The packaging rule for CUE20103 Certificate II in Live Production, Theatre and Events has been altered to group elective units into Group A and Group B electives. Of the eight elective units, all eight may be from Group A electives. Only two electives from Group B units may be selected. Any imported elective units from other training packages must be chosen at the same AQF level.

See information about the revised CUF07 Screen and Media and CUE03 Entertainment Training packages on the National Training Information Service website at www.ntis.gov.au .

What you need to do

If your school is currently registered for either of these qualifications, ensure that students enrolled in 2011 (Year 10 or Year 11 students) are completing the latest version of the training package. Current Year 12 students may complete the existing qualification structure, as they were enrolled before the changes in November 2010.

Schools are asked to review their current scope of registration to ensure that they have sufficient Group A units of competency linked to the qualifications.

Principals are asked to:

 tell the vocational education and training (VET) coordinator about the changes to the training packages

 tell staff involved in the teaching and assessing of CUF20107 and CUE20103 about the changes to the training packages

 tell staff involved in the entering of student enrolment and completion data into the Student Data Capture System (SDCS) about the changes to the training packages

 download the revised version of the qualification packaging rules for CUF20107 and CUE20103 from the NTIS website — www.ntis.gov.au

 tell staff to revise all documents to reflect the latest version of either or both training packages

 ensure the school is registered for sufficient Group A units of competency to achieve the qualifications with the revised versions of the CUE03 and CUF07 training packages.

If the school requires additional units of competency linked to either CUF20107 Certificate II in Creative Industries (Media) or CUE20103 Certificate II in Live Production, Theatre and Events, please send an email with the nominated units, clearly linked to the qualification, to [email protected] by Friday 29 July 2011. No RTO2 application is required.

Schools wanting to offer these qualifications, for which they are currently not registered, will need to send an RTO2 application to the QSA.
