FULL COUNCIL MEETING

held

Tasman Council Chamber, 189 Queen Street, Richmond

Present: Mayor T King, Councillors S Bryant, C Butler, B Dowler, C Hill (via Zoom), K Maling, C Mackenzie, D McNamara, D Ogilvie, T Tuffnell, A Turley, T Walker and D Wensley

In Attendance: Chief Executive (J Dowding), Executive Assistant to the Mayor (R Scherer), Director, Programme Management Office (R Kirby), Environment and Planning Manager (D Bush-King), Acting Engineering Services Manager (D Fletcher), Transportation Officer (M Bell) and Transportation Manager (J McPherson)

1 OPENING, WELCOME

Deputy Mayor and Acting Chair, Stuart Bryant welcomed everyone to the meeting.

2 APOLOGIES AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE

3 PUBLIC FORUM

Richard Johns spoke about the Waimea Community Dam and the Council’s debt levels.

Nick Hughes spoke about community housing and the issue of homelessness in the region. He suggested that the Council should do all it can to help people with this issue.

Tracy Martin spoke about the abatement notice that has been served on the Renaissance

Community and suggested that the Trust Board was using the abatement notice to evict residents.

Ray Hellyer spoke about the Council’s staff numbers, the Tasman Environment Plan and community housing.

7 REPORTS

7.1 Temporary Road Closure – Car Rally Event Matakitaki Road

Transportation Officer, Megan Bell and Transportation Manager, Jamie McPherson presented the report which was taken as read.

In response to a question, Ms Bell confirmed that any costs to remediate damage to the road as a result of the rally event will be charged to the car club. She also noted that the organisers will ensure there is traffic clearance during the event.

That the Full Council:

1. receives the Temporary Road Closure – Car Rally Event Matakitaki Road report, RCN20-11-1; and

2. approves the temporary closure of Matakitaki Road (Murchison) from 1.48km from the start of Matakitaki Road for 10 kilometres (RP 1.48 – RP 11.48) from 7.00am to 7.00pm on Saturday 5 December 2020.
