ImAGe SPecIFIcATIOnS

Images must be submitted in digital format, of high quality and in full colour. Use your camera’s highest settings for

image size so that the pictures are not too grainy or pixelated for us to use. This means photos should be a minimum of

1 megabytes (

mB) (over 300 dpi) and a maximum of 8 mB

and in JPeG or .jpg format. If your photograph contains identifiable people, animals, logos or private property, you

must have obtained permission for

massey University to use

the photograph. You should obtain written permission from the people featured (or guardians in the case of children

under 18) or owners of animals or property.

SUBJecT mATTeR

We are seeking images that demonstrate vets fitting study into their work and home lives. Your image should appear

genuine and not overly staged.

In your composition think about establishing a sense of context. Think about how to make the image show it belongs

to a category as described below.

1. vets at work

Images of a vet’s working life. We want to see vets in their daily working environment doing their normal things using

their normal tools of the trade. Think consultations, surgery and hospital care but also going further to paperwork, driving

to calls, talking on the phone and even cleaning the mud off your boots! There is endless potential for variety in the range

of veterinary work. Images should not be gruesome as they will be appearing in a public arena!

2. vets at study

Images of vets studying in the

mVm programme. We want to

see images of how vets fit study into their life. Where do you study? At work, at home, in the car? At night? With a cup of tea? At your children’s ballet practice or sports matches?

3. a vet’s busy life

Glimpses of a vet’s busy life. What do you do other than work and study? Spend time with your family, shopping, sports,

playing music, getting together with friends, working round the house?

You should submit your entry by email to

You may enter as many times as you like.

Your entries must be accompanied by a completed and signed entry form (attached). You may enter up to 12 photos

with each entry form. If you wish to enter more than 12 photos, further entry forms are available from the

other veterinarians on public websites, brochures, printed advertisements and other promotional materials for the

master of Veterinary

medicine programme.

JUDGInG

All images judged to be of suitable quality for use will be entered into a separate prize draw for each of the 3

categories to win an Apple iPod Shuffle 2GB.

An overall winner will be judged on merit based on its inspirational, technical quality and relevance and will win an

Apple iPod Touch 32GB.
