Swan Libraries Zinio Digital eMagazine Setup Guide

Before using our Zinio eMagazine service, it is important to note that there are two components: (1) the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection, and (2) the Zinio website
Swan Libraries Zinio Collection
Contains the magazine titles that are available for free to Swan Libraries members
Once you have created an account by confirming that you are a library member, you can then select which of our titles you want to have access to
If at any time you wish to select more magazine titles to add to your current selection, or to get the latest edition, you will need to return to this collection page
Zinio website
Allows you to view the free magazine subscriptions you selected from the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection The website also gives you the ability to purchase subscriptions to other magazines which are not in our collection if you wish to do so
You can also access free Zinio mobile apps which allow to view your selected titles on mobile devices
Step 1 - Create a Swan Libraries Zinio Collection account Visit www.swan.wa.gov.au/eLibrary

Once on the collection page, select the button Enter your library barcode and select
You will then be prompted to enter your email address and choose a password
Once you have entered your details an email will be sent to the email address you entered
You will need to select the link contained within the email to activate your Swan Libraries Zinio Collection account
Once activated, you can then using your email address and the password you created
You will then be presented with the free magazine titles that are available in our collection
You can browse the available titles by navigating through the pages or by using the drop-down menu to view particular titles or genres
To select to a magazine, simply click on the cover image and a new window containing the Zinio website will open

Step 2 - Create a Zinio account
Upon selecting a title on the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection page, you will be presented with the sign in page on the Zinio website As a first-time user of Zinio, you will be asked to create a Zinio account by entering your name, email address and a password This is a separate account from the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection account you created earlier
For simplicity, we recommend that you create your Zinio website account using the same email address and password that you used to create your Swan Libraries Zinio Collection account If you are a returning Zinio user and already have a Zinio account, you should select the sign in here link located on the page instead
First-time users will be asked to select their personal preferences, which includes options for receiving emails from Zinio. The “let Zinio decide” box is selected by default. If you do not wish to receive emails from Zinio regarding titles that you would have to pay for, simply un-select the box before clicking the submit button Once you have finished creating your Zinio website account, or signed in with a previously made account, the magazine title you choose will now be accessible in your personal Zinio collection To add more titles to your personal Zinio collection, whether it be another magazine title or the latest edition of one you already have, you will need to return to the Swan Libraries Zinio

Step 3 - Viewing your selected titles
A list of all the titles you have in your personal collection can be viewed under the section of the Zinio website
You can toggle between Grid View and List View by selecting the associated icons
The List View shows which of your titles are viewable on PC/
Mac, iPhone and iPad (Note: all titles are readable on Android) To read a magazine title on a PC/Mac, simply click on the magazine cover or title to launch the online reader
You can easily remove any titles that you are no longer interested from your personal collection by clicking on the button

Step 4 - Using the online reader and desktop reader
If your magazine is viewable online, the Zinio online reader automatically opens when you click a magazine cover or title With the online reader you can view page spreads of the magazine (just like in the print edition) with many areas of the magazine having added-value links
Additional viewing options include using the gallery view, slide page features and quick access to the magazine table of contents page
You can even search within a magazine, print pages (in most cases) and zoom the page to enjoy more detail
Some titles are not viewable using the online reader and will require you to download and install the Zinio desktop reader (which works very similarly to the online reader once installed) To download the desktop reader, simply click on the title that requires it and you will be directed to the download area

Step 5 - Using the Zinio mobile apps
You may also access your magazines through any of the existing Zinio apps available
After installing and launching the required app for your device, you can log in using the email address and password that you used when you created your Zinio website account
At present there are apps available for iPad, iPhone, Android and WebOS devices
If you notice some of your magazines missing from the list of available titles on the app, it is most likely because that particular publication is not viewable on that mobile device (you can check this by using the List View of your titles on the Zinio website) Magazines accessed through the apps may be viewed online or downloaded so they are available for off-line viewing at a later time
Zinio apps contain similar viewing options as the online and desktop readers
For easy reading, there also is a „Text‟ option on some pages which allows you to view just the text component of an article without the associated images
You can locate free Zinio reader apps for your mobile device by selecting the link located at the bottom of the Zinio website

Summary and notes
When using our Zinio service you will require two log in accounts:
(1) Swan Libraries Zinio Collection - where the free titles for selection are located (2) Zinio website - where you can manage and read the titles you have selected
You can access the list of magazines in you personal collection by visiting the “my library” section of the Zinio website or reader app
Zinio reader apps require you to sign in using the same account details you created for the Zinio website
To add more of the free magazine titles we offer to your Zinio website account you will need to visit the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection page
Once you have selected a magazine title, you will need to revisit the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection to add any future editions of that title
If you navigate away from the “my library” section on the Zinio website, or select the “shop” button on any of the Zinio reader apps, you will be presented with magazine titles that need to be bought
Once you have selected a magazine title, you will need to revisit the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection to add any future editions of that title
Access your currently subscribed titles in “my library”
To add more free titles to your “my library” section you need to go to the Swan Libraries Zinio Collection page
