Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need to plan for growth and change now?
We need to manage the changes that significant growth will bring. We want to provide certainty for those who live and work in The Hills and ensure that it remains a great place for future generations.
What does Hills Future 2036 do?
Hills Future 2036 updates and builds upon our previous planning strategies and focusses on getting the right mix of housing, jobs and transport options as well as delivering infrastructure such as parks, playing fields and community facilities to support growth.
Will the Hills Future 2036 and strategies change the zoning of my land?
Hills Future 2036 and our strategies do not propose any changes to land use zoning. These documents set the future direction for the Shire and we will consult with you further if we need to make any changes to land use zones.
When will Hills Future 2036 be finalised?
Following the close of exhibition on 9 August, the documents will be reviewed based on submissions received. A report will be prepared seeking Council’s endorsement of the revised documents. Following Council endorsement, we will seek the support of the Greater Sydney Commission. Hills Future 2036 is intended to be in place by December 2019.
