Introductory Spanish Language II.

Points Value:

15 Credits.

Calendar Prescription:

Extension of communication skills in spoken and written Spanish through use of video, composition, comprehension, and oral practice for students with an initial knowledge of Spanish. Aspects of contemporary Spanish culture and society are also studied. An oral examination forms part of the final assessment.

Learning outcomes:

To further develop basic skills in Spanish language through the use of a video-based course with particular emphasis on developing oral-aural skills and functional language.

Major Topics :

The paper is divided into 6 learning units corresponding to the lessons 7 - 12 of the Es Español Nivel 1 course.

Assessment Proportions:

Internal Assessment 40%

Final Examination 60% (including 20% final oral test).

Description of assessment activities : Six section tests.

Six oral response assignments.

Two oral presentations.

Oral examination - The oral examination will take place in the final week of the semester or shortly after, involving a face-to-face interview.

The due dates for assignments (and any other internal assessment components) will be advised at the start of the semester.
