The kinetic aspects of the process were investigated and the relative affinities of some amino acids for the uptake process were determined. Therefore, the use of a more convenient system – segmental uptake – has been found to provide useful information on the mechanism of absorption in the intact animal.

The eighteenth century presents some interesting problems, for it was a period when ideas as such were a constant preoccupation of writers, and these ideas were marked by curious contradictions, such as excessive rationalism and the revival of occultism. name the sentimental current that would be so important to the romantic movement. Patricia Lancaster is trying to discover how this multiplicity of 'prompts' became compatible with the evolution of that prose style which is one of the glories of the eighteenth century.

The results of the assays, taken as a whole, constituted a non-orthogonal experiment arranged in randomized blocks, with a possible covariance effect due to different amounts of the complexes used in different assays. The results of several experiments on changes in the electrical activity of muscle cells due to changes in the ionic content of the environment have been analyzed.

Shulman (Department of Pharmacology) Worker: Alison G. Several series of six-point assays were performed on frog rectus muscle responses to acetylcholine associated with various organometallic complexes. The analysis of variance indicated that there were real differences between the different metals used in the assays, but no dose-response effect within a particular metal could be detected.

HISTORY OF EDUCATION
With the introduction of the subject, History of Australian Edu- ''cation, in the second year of the course for the B.Ed., and the increase. in the number of research students, the preparation of this bibliography has become a necessity. These tables are essential to the study of trends in the high school curriculum in general and the liberal education curriculum in particular.

BACTERIOLOGY
CHEMOTHERAPY
The rate of absorption of a series of anti-tuberculosis drugs in the small intestine of the rat was investigated. The uptake rate was found to be greatly influenced by the lipoid solubility of the derivatives.
MEDICAL
Although the disease has been officially notifiable since 1937, it is evident that many cases go unreported and that official figures do not provide a reliable record of the incidence of the disease. Of seventy-eight specimens, thirty-nine were completely negative; in fourteen of the thirty-nine which were positive, non-viable bacilli were found by microscopic examination.
