SSV looks forward to continuing a quality school sport program for your students. This begins with the State Cross Country finals on Tuesday, 19 July at Bundoora Park.

SSV AUGUST 2011 REGION FORUMS
SSV wishes to remind everybody that the second region forums scheduled for 2011 will take place in August 2011. Agenda items at these conferences include discussion and planning on:

· Evaluation of 2011 program
· Competition boundaries for 2012
· Nomination of Region Principal and Teacher Representatives for SSV board positions

SSV 2012-2013 BOARD MEMBER NOMINATIONS CLOSE ON 29 JULY
The nomination process for 2012-2013 Principal or Teacher SSV Board Member closes on 29 July. SSV Operating Procedures require nominations to be approved at the next Region Forums in August. Nominations will then be forwarded to the SSV AGM on 15 November. If an election is required for a Principal or Teacher Class position this will be performed at the AGM. 2012 AFFILIATION FEES
School Sport Victoria is responsible for coordinating over 10,300 events per year across primary and secondary sectors. To administer such a large program SSV relies on the financial contributions from schools. At a recent SSV Board Meeting the affiliation fees for 2012 were set at:
Full and Associate Members $2.20 (Secondary) per head
$1.00 (Primary) per head
Affiliate Members $0.25 (group – where a school sport association affiliates as a whole
$0.31 (individual – individual school)
Every participating school will be required to pay an affiliation fee. This funding is targeted at providing quality sporting opportunities for students in Victorian schools at Region, Conference and State competition levels. It also provides leadership and development opportunities for teachers involved with school sport, funds the Region and Division (Primary only) Coordinator positions, eighteen Region Forums per year and supports the Sport Sub Committees. Funding for Division (Secondary) and District level will continue to be raised through local member schools and will be set at those competition levels by a joint agreement of Sport Coordinators and their Principals.

VICTORIAN SCHOOLS FOOTY LEAGUE
School Sport Victoria, Collingwood Football Club and Westpac have developed the Victorian Schools Footy League web site.
Students, teachers and parents are of a reminded a number of promotional opportunities that exist for students and teachers to win valuable prizes.
Students have the opportunity to nominate their footy coach and in two hundred words or less describe how their coach has helped them and their team.
Students go on line to www.vsfl.com.au and click on “Calling Out A Coach” Prizes for the teacher and the student nominating the teacher. Promotion closes on August 7th 2011.
Students also have the opportunity to make a two minute video on a novel approach to developing their footy skills (creativity and a sense of fun should be part of your video.)Students film their video and go on line to www.vsfl.com.au and click on “VSFL Skills Challenge” and upload your video. Great prizes for the film makers and five of their school mates of the winning videos. Promotion closes on August 2nd 2011.

2011 VICTORIAN PRIMARY SCHOOLS GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
The Logical Staffing Victorian Primary Schools Golf Championships have already started with 5 tournaments having been conducted. Results and entry received can be viewed on the Golf Victoria website . All schools should have received an entry form in the mail or they can be downloaded from the Golf Victoria website. Entries are still able to be received.

INTERSTATE TEAM NOMINATIONS – ENTRIES CLOSING SOON
Students attending schools affiliated with SSV are eligible for selection in Victorian Teams to compete in 2011 School Sport Australia National Championships. MYGOLF SCHOOLS 1 PROGRAM – FREE GOLF KIT
The MYGolf Schools 1 Program is the official national golf program designed for primary schools and is endorsed by Golf Australia, School Sport Australia and the Australian Sports Commission. The primary objective of the 5 week program is to provide as many children as possible with the opportunity to learn the basic skills of the game of golf, along with the valuable life skills and values that the game develops. The kit provides the school with equipment to deliver this program to a grade of students.
MYGolf Free Kit - Conditions of Use: In order to receive your free MYGolf Kit, it is a requirement that your school commits to running as a minimum, the five week MYGolf Schools 1 Program, at least once per year for 3 years.

MILO in2CRICKET KANGA 8’s AND SUPER 8’s
Kanga 8’s is a modified game of cricket that maximises participation, encourages team work, communication and leadership. It is teacher friendly with easy to understand rules - played by boys and girls. Entry is free and schools entering for the first time are offered a FREE clinic by their Regional Cricket Manager to teach the rules of the game, ground layout, strategies and tips. Kanga 8s registration booklets will be arriving at schools shortly and the registration form will be online in early August on Cricket Victoria’s Kanga 8’s website page.
Cricket Victoria also run the MILO in2CRICKET Cup Super 8s competition for year 7/8 and year 9/10 students. For more information about Super 8s and the online registration form, please log on in August to Cricket Victoria’s Super 8s website page.

TRIATHLON VICTORIA ANNOUNCES SCHOOL’S DIVISION FOR THE 2011 DUATHLON SERIES
Triathlon Victoria is pleased to announce the inclusion of a schools division for their Duathlon Series 2011 so inform your students to come along and represent your school. The races are the Dash distance 2km run/10km bike ride/1km run. The minimum age is twelve (12) years for both races. Prizes will be presented to the 1st, 2nd 3rd Male & Female in the 12-14 years events and Male & Female 15-17 years. The events will be held on

ATHLETICS VICTORIA adidas VICTORIAN ALL SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
All students are invited to participate at the 2011 adidas Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships at Bundoora Park on Saturday, 23 July 2011.
No qualification standards exist the age-group cross country events, meaning anyone can run. The championships also double as the selection trial for the School Sport Victoria and Athletics Victoria teams to contest the 2011 Australian Cross Country Championships. This event is the only way for students to qualify to compete at the national event.

BADMINTON VICTORIA 2011 ALL-SCHOOLS BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Primary All-Schools Badminton Championships is an annual event delivered by Badminton Victoria that is open to all Victorian primary schools.
The 2011 event will run on Wednesday, 7th September 2011 for both girls and boys.
The Secondary All-School Badminton Championships is an annual event delivered by Badminton Victoria that is open to all Victorian secondary schools. The 2011 event will be held on Thursday, 13th October 2011 for Girls and Thursday 20th October 2011 for Boys.
