When the second boiler is finished, we will have one of the most efficient steam power plants in the Commonwealth. The whole of the fuel and ash processing plant is housed in a steel and fiber cement structure 18 meters long. This diagram shows all the main features of the new boiler and related installation, but for a simpler illustration.

The boiler is fired mechanically by three stokers mounted in the front of the furnace wall. The instruments that operate these controllers are mounted on a steel panel at the front of the boilers. The goal is quite simple — to place the entire control of the boiler plant in one location.

Its aim is to train young men to acquire knowledge of business and gain experience in management techniques. The "local" vocalist Alan Don also contributed to the pleasure of the night. Board members are not looking for individual glory if they take it all on as a team.

So much so, that they have been asked to appear in several other balls and have become one of the most outstanding teams of the season.

Firstly, the name Manjimup is derived from the Aboriginal language, and means the "Meeting of the Rivers". Famous among them are Fonty's Pool; this excellent pool is also the center of "The Australian Log Chop Championships." Before Foy's came to the district, the current store was an old firm called Manjimup Trading Company. Only name, address, display case number and item number had to be given. Even those who didn't make it past the first round agree it was one of the best nights they've ever enjoyed.

Last in this list of recent departures, but, conversely, high in the esteem of his peers, was Willam Moir, of the Hosiery stock, who retired on August 7th. In charge of the Outerwear Knitting, Arnold Shacklock joined the Mills in 1940 after gaining much experience in his specialized field at both Lincoln and Maryborough Mills.

Devoted to his work with an almost slavish devotion, Arnold Shacklock nevertheless found time and energy to contribute much to the functioning of the social clubs, both Mill and Combined. A ready volunteer when a job needed to be done – remember him at picnics, for example? - Arnold was as well known in other parts of the organization as he was in Mills.

It doesn't matter how hard the store manager or customers work if they don't have the support and interest of the staff.

Frank Hunting has so impressed a member of the Prahran staff as an educational trend in the right direction that he has been moved to raise still further the good atmosphere of Chapel Street. Mark Siegelberg (of whose interesting career we gave brief summaries in our last issue) and his contribution to the welfare of the staff takes the interesting form of teaching German to anyone who wants to learn. MISS JOAN ANDERSON SAYS "AU REVOIR." In October 1950, we welcomed Ms. Joan Anderson at City Store. Fred Bellamy has thus witnessed many changes, not only in the growth of our business, but also in Fred was working in the office as he had been for a long time. he was in frequent contact with all the members of the Gibson and Maclellan families, and watched them grow up to the third and fourth generations.

Rooke, Associate Director, said at one of the farewell parties: "Fred Bellamy was a great ambassador and business getter." Houghton read a telegram from the Postmaster and staff of the Collingwood Post Office, conveying good wishes to Mr.

Gorbutt then read a letter that one of our oldest customers had sent to the General Manager. Rooke, Store Manager, Prahran (who had known Mr. Bellamy well as store manager at Collingwood and Fitzroy) had "rounded off" the speeches in a very happy spirit, and Mr. All those present greatly appreciated these generous provisions and especially the early morning efforts involved in the baking thereof.

34;Are Social Club Meetings Waste of Time? "

Our old friend now enters a new phase of life, a phase when he does not need to get up so early and when he will not be embarrassed by calls or inquiries about someone's account. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish him and Mrs. Bellamy many new joys as they journey together and hope that the years ahead will add to the proud and happy memories he has taken with him after his long association with us. Just before we went to press we learned that, although Fred Bellamy was, in a sense, the guest at the Office party, the many good things to eat there had been provided by the ladies. All present were most appreciative of these generous provisions, and especially of the early morning effort involved in baking them.

Frank because "Rookie" pulled no punches and points were made competently. By some, "Newcomer's" views may be condemned, but are they fully satisfied that—. a) Full attendance at all our social events is maintained. So it comes back to the question, "Are social gatherings a waste of time?" are only answered by the staff themselves, by attending meetings and supporting social events.

Thank you, "Newbie," for asking the question, and also thank you to the Editor for not including this well-intentioned letter in the. So naturally did he "fit in" with everything around him, both the workday round and the social activities that arose from it, that "Pop" Young, as he was so commonly known, may truthfully be said to have begun. not only a new life, but a new way of life when he came to Foy's. 34;Pop," as he was affectionately called, was a very popular figure among all sections of the Collingwood store and made many friends.
