PRESIDENT’S BOWLS REPORT FOR LADIES
September has been a very busy month for us. We have had great numbers attending Tuesday social bowls.
Thursday is becoming more popular with both men and ladies attending for a short game and some coaching drills.
During the month of OCTOBER I would like to encourage you all to bring a friend, neighbour or relation (male, female or couple) to come along on a Tuesday and join us for a lesson and game. Let’s make it a challenge to see if we can get more people to come and join our club.
On Tuesday 18th September Turramurra hosted the North Shore District Veteran’s Day. We had 104 bowlers from various clubs on the green who all enjoyed a fun day of bowls with lots of laughter on the day. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships made. I have had nothing but positive feed back from our visitors and district representatives on what a lovely day was had by all and what a great club we have at Turramurra. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make the day a huge success.
Our club Major/minor pairs competition is currently in progress, good luck to all those playing.
We had two members Bridget and Sue represent our Region 15 in the Anita Linden Shield against Region 16. Unfortunately our Region lost the shield but it was a great experience to be selected to play in such a prestigious event.
We wish Bridget and Helen good luck with their bowls in the Champion of Club Championship Pairs Competition commencing on Tuesday 2nd October.
We welcome Paulina Kam as a new bowler and Kerry Goodman and Luciette Aliprandi who are currently having lessons. We look forward to meeting you on the green.
This month is also a sad month for us, sadly we say goodbye to our dear friends and bowlers Sandy White and Jennifer Stewart. Both ladies are moving closer to their families. Jennifer to Huskisson (on the south coast) and Sandy to Warners Bay (on the north coast). We wish both ladies good luck, good health and continued good bowling at their new homes. I am sure they would welcome visitors from any of the members who pass their way.
Good bowling to all and see you on the green.
Sue Hamilton President

Brilliant defence to speeding !! - try it !
A senior citizen drove his brand new BMW Z4 convertible out of the car salesroom. Taking off down the motorway, he floored it to 120mph;enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left.
"Amazing!" he thought as he flew down the M4, enjoying pushing the pedal to the metal even more.
Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a police car behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring.
"I can get away from him - no problem!" thought the elderly nutcase ashe floored it to 140mph, then 150 then 160. Suddenly, he thought, "What on earth am I doing? I'm too old for this nonsense!" So he pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the police car to catch up with him.
Pulling in behind him, the police officer walked up the driver's side of the BMW, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 10 minutes. Today is Friday and I'm taking off for the weekend. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."
The old man, looked very seriously at the policeman and replied, "Years ago my wife ran off with a policeman. I thought you were bringing her back."
"Have a good day, Sir", said the policeman.
