The Alumni Union of the University of Melbourne Incorporated is an association for alumni who wish to maintain close links with the University of Melbourne. The main objects of the Graduate Union as set out in its Statement of Aims are: a) to promote the welfare of the University of Melbourne. The Alumni Union is part of the University of Melbourne's Alumni Relations Unit.

Graduates and degree holders of the University of Melbourne or other recognized tertiary institutions are eligible for Ordinary Membership. It was affiliated to the University Union between 1938 and 1952 as the Graduates' Section of the Union. All questions should be directed to the Director of The Graduate Union, at the university address, Parkville, 3052.

Janet Clarke Hall provides residence, supplementary education and corporate life for members of the University. Where the College does not provide tutorials, arrangements are made to attend one of the neighboring colleges. The College Office will provide details of the special rates for tutors living in flats.

-resident students are also accepted and encouraged to become active members of the college.

Ormond College

Early application is encouraged, but candidates can apply for residency at any stage of the year. Saturday, July 24 through Saturday, November 20 (excluding Semester Break September 18 - October 3) For authorized stay at other times during the academic year, the fee is $40.00 per day. Tuition fees can be paid annually in advance; or in two equal installments; or in eight (monthly) installments during the term.

Members of the University may become non-resident members of the College and attend College tutorials.

Professor of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Leiden, Netherlands. The awards are decided in February at a meeting of faculty scholars and are based on year 12 results and the university. All enrolled residents or non-residents of the College are automatically considered as candidates, along with any non-College students who wish to have their University results considered for a scholarship or exhibition.

Scholarships and exhibitions are awarded for one year only, but a student may be selected year after year throughout the course of the University for a scholarship of equal or different value. Where, as in the clinical years of the Medical course, the period of hospital stay may include absence during College semesters, an allowance of $105 per week will be made for such period. Half a semester's notice of the student's intention to leave the College during the course of the year is required, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Ridley College

Accommodation is usually available during holidays at rates that can be obtained from the office. Further information can be obtained from The Dean, Ridley College, University of Melbourne, 160 The Avenue, Parkville, Victoria, 3052, Australia.

St Hilda's College

The college accommodates approximately 180 students in single rooms and has 8 flats for single and married teachers. Non-resident students are entitled to practice at the Faculty, can use the library and other facilities of the Faculty, dine at the Faculty at student prices and participate fully in the life of the Faculty. Fees entitle resident students to board, lodging and tuition for the academic year of the college or equivalent.

The College academic year of 32 weeks is based on the University of Melbourne academic year. Agreements are made with other upper secondary schools about tutoring in subjects that are not offered at St. Hilda's. A number of scholarships will be awarded annually to resident and non-resident students, and scholarships are awarded according to a family needs test.

For more detailed information application should be made to the Principal, St Hilda's College, College Crescent, Parkville, Victoria, 3052. It is refundable if the student wishes, subject to deduction of any outstanding fees, within three months of the student finalizing the residence left .

St Mary's College

Annual Residence Fee (Payable in two equal installments) - 1999 Rate **$8,750 Resort Rate (per day) (Special rates apply to Conference Staff and G.C.) $30 Room Internet Connection per year (optional - not available all rooms) $175 non - Resident students. The registration fee includes the building fee, telephone rental fee, computer room fee and deposit held against damage to college property. The annual fee covers all fees for board and lodging and College Tutorials for the entire period.

A number of scholarships are awarded annually to students residing in the country, and some scholarships are also available. For further information on residence and tutoring, an application should be made to the Principal, St Marys College, P.O.

Trinity College

550 international students are preparing for university studies at Trinity FSP, and around 2000 students have already gone on from Trinity to university courses at the University. Trinity College Choir has developed an international reputation as one of the finest collegiate cap choirs in the world. The library, started in the earliest days of the College, known as the Leeper Library and beautifully housed in a new building (opened 1996), aims to provide a useful collection of works for students in the main fields of undergraduate study. .

The history of the College's first century is recorded in Perspective of a Century by J.A. Grant). The names of successive Principals and Wardens of Trinity College will be found in the "lists of Former Principal Members" section of this Yearbook. The following information is correct at the time of going to press, but interested parties should consult the College office or website for more up-to-date information.

Selected later year students are also offered professional mentoring in the field in which they seek to make their career. The College Library (Leeper Library) provides a useful working collection in the main areas of undergraduate study together with specialist research collections. The college also has extensive information technology resources, including a student computer room and an internet connection in every student room.

Applications are welcomed from students in all faculties who wish to benefit from the academic and extracurricular programs of the College. The College offers scholarships to students in all years of University courses, for one year at a time. Generous scholarships are awarded to outstanding students entering the college who have financial need.

The college also offers "scholarships" or financial assistance to students in their second or later year at the college whose families have demonstrated financial need. The college's 'student employment scheme' enables many students to earn by undertaking work (in the conference office, in the garden or elsewhere) for the college. University College

These fees cover College fees for accommodation, tuition and service over the 32 weeks of the Academic Year, based on the University of Melbourne's Academic Year. Entrance scholarships are awarded annually to first-year students on the basis of the Victorian Certificate of Education, and other scholarships on the basis of University examination results.
