2011 Masters Swimming National Championships E-News Update March 2011
It is getting close! The 36th National Masters Championships is being held in Perth Western Australia from Wednesday 27th April to Sunday 1st May. Arrangements are steadily being put in place by the excellent Organising Committee.
LATEST NEWS:
• Hopefully most intending participants have renewed or registered their Masters membership with their Clubs and have submitted their event entry forms with payment for the National meet to Club Captains for sending onto WA.
• Registrations close on Friday 18th March, so members must be registered with their Clubs in time for Clubs to send entries by due date. The electronic forms were updated (corrected presentation function cost) on 18th January and advise don websites to ensure the updated form is used.
• Entry forms are available via the event logo link at www.mastersswimming.org.au or
www.mswa.asn.au for members to complete electronically. Club personnel have been asked to download and provide manual entry forms to those members who do not have access to the internet.
• AGAIN: Instructions MUST BE READ prior to completion of electronic entry and Officials forms. And for the latest information on the 2011 Masters Swimming National Championships continue to check either website.
• Competition Rules & Procedures document is available on the websites and will be included in the Event Program. The Event Program will also include parking and traffic arrangements at Challenge Stadium as Cirque de Soleil will be in action during our event in the main arena.
Entry into the venue will also be indicated on the venue map and available on both websites prior to the event.
• Merchandise information is coming soon - some great event gear (short & long-sleeve shirts plus a hoodie) has been designed which will be available for purchase direct on-line with
Swimmeroo via link from both the National and WA websites. Participants will be able to pick up their gear at the event although a few items will be available for purchase at the event.
Participants are advised to pre-order.
• Some great gifts will be in the participant's bag (a mesh swimmer's bag which fits flippers) including an event swim cap and chamois as well as the Event Program and other important information.
• Additionally Masters members from the Eastern States could also enjoy participating in 2 open water swims in country WA on the Easter weekend. The Albany Masters Club conducts the 4km Albany Harbour Swim on Easter Saturday each year and this event is followed by the Southern Ocean Classic Mile on Easter Sunday which is conducted by the Denmark Surf Life Saving Club.
Members are encouraged to head to WA before Easter, travel “down south” to Albany and Denmark on Good Friday Friday 22nd April, enjoy a swim or 2 and some wonderful tourist opportunities before travelling back to Perth by Tuesday 26th April.
