After inserting numbers 1 and 2, the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 1989 should contain the following new pages. These regulations may be cited as the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Except as provided in subregulation (2), these regulations shall commence on 31 July 1989.
PART VI-(REPEALED);

In these regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:-. 34;air conditioning" means a mechanical ventilation system which automatically controls the air temperature: the term includes dehumidification equipment; 34;air conditioning" means a plant unit that provides air conditioning and which:-. a) contains an evaporative condenser or cooling tower;. 34;B.S." means a standard, rule, code or specification of the British Standards Institution; ·. reg.S WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS 1989.
PART II-GENERAL PROVISIONS
For the purposes of Section 23 of the Act, the following safeguards and safety measures are prescribed in relation to a project relating to a building or structure in which a main contractor is engaged:-. a) providing lighting at the workplace and areas that allow access to the workplace;. Before a person starts working on a notifiable project in relation to a building or structure, the main contractor must ensure that the person receives health and safety instructions, including instructions on which of the following topics are relevant to work on to implement:-. a) prevention and procedures for dealing with accidents;
PART III-WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICERS, REPRESENTATIVES AND COMMITTEES
An applicant for a dog training certificate must:-. a) acquire 6 months of practical experience in the dogman profession;. An applicant for obtaining a plant operator's qualification certificate must:-. a) be the holder of a permit issued under this part in relation to the classification to which the application relates;.
PART VI-(REPEALED) 58. (Repealed)
A person shall not direct the holder of a certificate of competence in a prescribed profession to do any act which may require the holder of the certificate to act in a manner which is in any respect contrary to the provisions of the law or this regulations. The Director may issue a certificate of competence in a prescribed occupation to the holder of a certificate for an equivalent occupation or an occupational classification issued by an authority outside Queensland and for this purpose the Director may exempt the applicant from all or any part of the provisions of this document. Part.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT
Facilities at a workplace shall be provided by the main contractor or, as the case may be, the employer in accordance with the provisions of this Part. There must be seating for any person in an industrial workplace who must perform work in a sitting position.
PART X-CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT
The following facilities must be provided at a workplace for a project relating to a building or structure: -. (a) ventilation in accordance with the requirements of regulation 76;. Facilities required at a workplace in accordance with this Part are: -. a) kept clean and tidy;
PART XI-CONSTRUCTION, ALTERATION AND REMOVAL OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES
A crane landing platform used in a project must be designed and erected to carry all applied loads safely and with inward swinging gates. Barricades shall be designed and manufactured to be self-supporting under all conditions and the height to the top of the horizontal parts of the barricades shall not be less than 900 millimeters or more than 1 meter from the surface to be shielded. The vertical distance from the curb level to the center line of the buffer rail must be a constant 900 millimeters.
A handrail must be placed at least 900 millimeters or more than 1100 millimeters above the edge to be protected. A toe board must be a minimum of 225 millimeters in height and extend to a height equal to or greater than the height of the tools or materials being stored.
TRENCHES, CAISSONS, COFFERDAMS AND TUNNELS
Access and egress must be provided at all times when a person is working in any excavation, trench, caisson, sluice or tunnel. If ladders are used in trenches, they must be no more than 9 meters apart. Any accessible part of a trench or excavation into which there is a possibility of a worker or other person falling from a distance of one meter or more must be equipped with barricades.
A combustion engine shall not be operated so as to expel any substance or matter liable to ignite, explode or be injurious to health into any trench, excavation, caisson, dam or tunnel.
PART XIV-SAFEGUARDS, WARNING SIGNS AND ALTERNATIVE PRECAUTIONS

Cooling systems used in a workplace must meet the requirements of:-. 3666-Air handling and water systems in buildings - microbial control. The owner of the refrigeration plant must:-. (a) in the case of a cold room, prominently in the room, an illuminated sign giving clear instructions on how to operate the escape doors.
PROVISIONS
1657-Platforms, walkways, stairs and fixed stairs- Design, construction and installation (S.A.A. Code for fixed platforms, walkways, stairs and stairs). Means of access must be kept in a clean condition, free of accumulation of debris, equipment and other matter, so that access is available at all times.
AND SEMI-PORTABLE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
Electricity supply will be obtained from an electricity authority and in one project, electricity will be supplied through a plant that complies with the requirements of the Electricity Act 1976-1988. 2550 shall be carried out by an inspector or by a competent person designated by the main contractor or plant owner and with qualifications and experience acceptable to the director. The plant owner must permanently, legibly and visibly mark on each crane or hoist:-. a) the registration number assigned by the director for that crane or hoist;.
The owner of the facility must, upon request, present to an inspector:-. (a) the manufacturer's certificate in relation to any wire rope used in connection with a crane or hoist. Such objects must be contained in the container so that movement or displacement of them cannot occur during work with the crane or the hoist.
PART XIX-BUILDING MAINTENANCE UNITS
GEAR
1353-Flat slings of synthetic material, with the modification that when a flat sling of synthetic material is used on a project, a backup sling of wire rope or chain must be provided.
PART XXI-INDUSTRIAL TRUCKS
1138-Timbles for use with steel cable or fiber cable (natural or synthetic). (2) A term used in the standard referred to in sub-regulation (1) shall, unless the contrary intention appears, have the meaning given to it by A.S.
PART XXII-JACKS
The owner must permanently, legibly and visibly mark the registration number assigned to that piece of equipment by the director on each piece of pressure equipment. The owner ensures that the inspection of the pressure equipment during operation at the workplace is carried out in accordance with the requirements:-.

PART XXV-AMUSEMENT DEVICES
In the workplace where the leading process is used, changing rooms shall be provided and shall be:-. a) suitable sizes for this purpose;. The employer shall provide the following protective clothing and equipment for each person involved in the leading process:-. The notification shall be sent at least 3 weeks before the commencement of the main procedure and shall indicate the place where the procedure will be used and the date of commencement.
A report of the results of each such examination and test signed by the competent person must be made to the employer within fourteen (14) days of the examination and test. The employer must ensure that loose asbestos, when not in use, and asbestos waste are kept in closed containers that prevent the escape of asbestos dust.
PART XXX-HEARING CONSERVATION
34;hearing protection" means a device or a pair of devices which is worn by a person or inserted in a person's ears to reduce noise. The employer in a workplace where a person is exposed to a daily noise dose exceeding 1.0 must, wherever practicable, take measures to reduce noise exposure to permissible limits by:-.
PART XXXI-SPRAY PAINTING
Unless otherwise expressly provided, the employer must ensure that the provisions of this part are complied with or, as the case may be, not violated. The employer shall not permit or permit the following materials to be used in corrosive blasting:-. a) any material containing more than 5% free silica (crystalline silicon dioxide) if used for dry abrasive blasting; The employer must ensure that wet blast inhibitors containing chromates, nitrates or nitrites are not used in any wet blasting.
The employer must ensure that a domed loading platform is not used unless:-. a) the platform has sufficient dimensions to enable safe and unobstructed handling of raw materials by furnace operators;. Where molds or spoons are dried within a foundry during working hours, the employer must ensure that:-. a) sufficient measures are taken to prevent vapors or other impurities from entering or remaining in the atmosphere of the foundry;.
