Therefore, I bear full responsibility for the collection, complication, preservation and publication of all data accumulation here in this report. In this study, most of the owners said that they do not get enough help or proper guidance from professionals. The rapid transformation of Bangladesh's socio-economic and demographic structure has led to a rise in the value of pet birds and animals in recent years.

Pet birds have a number of distinguishing characteristics, such as attractive colors and the ability to make good companions, both of which have increased their popularity (Lazenby, 1949). However, pet birds have very different food and housing requirements, as well as specific reproductive requirements and traits (Mallison&Stunkard, 1984). Understanding these factors would help in creating and devising appropriate intervention strategies in this industry, which would go a long way in providing a sustainable livelihood option to aspiring business owners as well as maintaining minimum standards of recommended for the welfare of these birds (Sreeshma et. al, 2017).

The data was collected based on general information about pet birds, including (breed, age, sex, etc.) and management of the birds kept, determination of sex, source of the pet bird, type of housing, time spent in the cage, location of cage to house, cage cleaning supplies, water source, deworming, vaccination, types of food, interaction with pet owner, use of birds for other activities etc. To demonstrate the frequency and percentage of pet bird management , all compliant data were imported into Microsoft Excel- 2013 and transferred to STATA 3.5.1 version for statistical analysis. In this study, general information about birds such as breed, sex, age of the pet bird, and the source of the bird collection data were measured (Table 1).

In this study, the most rare birds were Budgerigar and the percentage was 18%, and less rare birds were Eclectus, Rosella and Macaw.

Welfare of birds

Almost 94% of birds were caged and 78% of pet birds spent full time in the cage. In this study, we have found that bird breeding cages were kept in a specific room, a special yard and balcony and bedroom. But maximum bird owner those who were taken bird as a business purpose, they kept their bird in a special yard (35%) and specified room (14%) (Table-3).

Owners always tried to maintain the hygiene of their birds by using some preventive measures except vaccination and worming and that was keeping the cage properly clean. Maximum number of owners (51%) took help of their maid for cleaning bird cages and 49% bird owners did this on their own (Table-3). Here it can be seen that 35% of birds were tamed, but most of the birds (65%) were not tamed.

In this current study, we found that 78% of owners did not experience any diseases in their birds in the past year, but 22% of bird owners complained that their birds had encountered diseases in the past year (Table 3) . 10 Table 3: Frequency and percentage of various variables related to bird welfare, followed by pet owners (n=79). In the feeding practices of pet birds, the types of food and water source were studied (Table 4).

For some birds (eg Parrot, Lorikeet) had specific feed for them and for the parrot the feed was parrot mixture (Table-4). Here we have found that maximum owners (44%) feed water to their birds from tubewell. 12 Table 4: Frequency and percentage of different variables related to pet bird feeding practices followed by pet owners (n=79).

Discussion

General information of pet birds

Because it helps breed their birds and sometimes helps the birds to be mentally and physically healthy. Pair living can significantly improve environmental quality and promote the welfare of young parrots in captivity (Meehan et al., 2003). This study found that most Bangladeshi owners collect their birds from breeders (42%), importers (41%) and the local market (13%).

Almost all birds appeared to be healthy, active and free of disease at the time of examination.

15 Bird assessment is usually done from abroad, but nowadays it is also done in Bangladesh, but not much is available yet. In this study, 55.69% of owners used their birds for breeding and 44.31% of owners did not use birds for breeding. Almost all owners were aware of popular drugs for the treatment of almost all diseases, and most of them treated their birds in a timely manner (Sreeshama et al. 2017).

But in this study we found that most pet owners treat their birds with their own experience most of the time. Bird housing complies with standards for pet bird welfare (Zahoor et al., 2018). In our study, we found that almost 94% of birds were caged and 78% of pet birds spent full time in cages. In this present study we found that almost 25% of the bird owners kept birds in their bedroom and balcony because here the owners shared that they take their bird as a companion, so they keep their birds in the bedroom as well. bedroom and their balcony.

Usually owners breed birds as their hobby and they breed a very minimum number such as 1 or 2 pairs, sometimes just one bird for the purpose of fulfilling their hobby. Some aviculturists or pet bird owners who raised their birds not only as a hobby but also for business and breeding kept their birds in a specific room (14%) or farm (35%). So in this research we have found that location of the cages are varied based on their breeding purposes. In this current study, we found that cage cleaning is a major problem for owners.

Here we have found that maximum owners (51%) took the help of their maid to clean bird cages and 49% bird owners did this on their own. In this current study, it is observed that owners always tried to maintain the hygiene of their birds by using some preventive measures except vaccination and worming. 78% owners have not been exposed to diseases in their birds in the last 1 year, but 22% bird owners complained that their birds had been exposed to diseases in the last 1 year.

Here, most of the owners said that they followed preventive procedures to avoid any problems. They mostly compose meals for their birds based on their own assumptions and experience. Some owners feed their birds egg food during the breeding season and it is noticeable that when the birds are molting, nesting or stressed, the egg meal increases their protein intake (Omelet).
