USE OF SULPHUR DRUGS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE
Abstract
A study was carried out to record clinical cases of different species at different internship placements of India and Bangladesh during September, 2011 to January, 2012. The study also aimed to study prescribed sulphur drugs against the recorded cases. A structured record keeping sheet was used to obtain the necessary information.
The most prevalent cases were Gastroenteritis and Enteritis in India and Gastroenteritis, Enteritis, Diarrhea, Dysentery, PPR, Pneumonia, Fever, Arthritis, Maggot infestation and Nutritional deficiency in case of large animals and New Castle Disease, Gumboro and Fowl Cholera in poultry in Bangladesh. Sulphur drugs were mostly used as therapeutic purposes. Sulphur drugs used with variable duration were prescribed for treatment of cases in Bangladesh. Withdrawal period of sulphur drugs was not written in the prescription. In conclusion, sulphur drug resistance and public health treat are obvious if the current practice of drug use continue.
