Functions of Cutting Department in Garment Industry

This is a process that is done to draw the pattern pieces on the fabric before cutting. This can be done by drawing the pattern pieces directly on the fabric or by drawing the pattern pieces on a thin layer. In this process, fabric is spread on the cutting table and all pattern pieces are placed directly on the fabric.

Spreading tables with flowing surfaces convey the fabric to the cutting machine, so there is no time wasted.

Depending on the condition of the sample made, the buyer decides whether to give the order or not. The unit produces two samples in the basic size using the actual fabric and piping. This sample was created for the sole purpose of getting the style and appearance of the garment approved.

After the buyer approves the fit sample, the final sample, fit and style cost are confirmed and no further changes are made. This sample is made to check the sample classification according to the measurement table in the technical package. This pattern is made with the exact fabric and trimmings and is packaged the same way the final garment will be shipped to the customer.

Two polypropylene samples are sent to the customer, one is kept by the customer while the other sample is sent back as a gasket sample. This sample is kept as a reference for production and should therefore be kept until shipment. 37 | Page Except inner size kit sample, all samples are sent to buyer for approval.

Bring the order from the customer and develop the product, then the dealer gives the product sample for ordering to the person in charge of the factory. After you finish all kinds of sewing, send the product to the quality inspector and check it very carefully.

The cost calculation is done by keeping in mind the cost of the various raw materials, operating costs of the company, the competition and expected profit of the organization. In many cases, the evaluation of the quality and the quantity of material consumed in the garment indicates the cost of producing it better than any other factor. The cost of fabric depends on the type of fabric that will be used in the garment.

The MOQ plays the important role while ordering the fabric as it directly affects the cost of garment. Order quantity: The cost of fabric may vary with the order quantity, more the order quantity; cost of fabric can be optimized to certain level. Thread: After fabric, thread is another component that should be considered to calculate the cost of garments the most.

MOQ is the parameter that significantly affects the cost of the chain; at the specified MOQ, only the chain will receive the desired price. Poly bags: The cost of poly bags depends a lot on the thickness, dimension and raw material used. The cost of poly bags is equally important as it makes a significant difference when we consider the entire order quantity.

Boxes: As with poly bags, the cost of boxes is highly dependent on the material used and dimensions. These costs associated with clothing production include wet processing chemicals, washing, and outsourced activities.

03 Conduct a P.P meeting A P.P meeting should be conducted here if all the required fabrics, trimmings and accessories are available and all precautions for the incoming garments are followed. 05 Setting the machine layout The machine layout is set here according to the overall processes required to complete the garment. 06 Line Setup In this process, the actual line setup must be done to properly utilize the garment workers.

07 Line balancing To minimize the number of workstations, cycle time, line balancing is done here.

Time Study in Industrial Engineering (IE)

The study is done on a time study record sheet printed as shown below, which is fixed on a board known as the Time Study Board. The different time readings of an element are recorded in the corresponding column of the recording sheet. This average time is multiplied by a leveling factor also called "Rating Factor", which is generally assumed to be 90-120% to get the time required by a normal worker.

Some allowances such as personal allowance (20%), fatigue allowance (5%), preparation allowance (5%) are added to the normal time to obtain the standard time. Performance evaluation is that process during which the time study engineer compares the performance of the observed operator to his own concept of normal performance. 71 | Page The concept of normal performance should be such that the time standards determined from it are within the capabilities of the majority of workers in the company.

Necessary IE Terms of Apparel Industry

In other words, the base time is the pick and drop time, including an operation for quality output. More lead time and quantity increase efficiency. On the other hand, a shorter lead time tends to use more MP or time to obtain the required output, thus reducing efficiency. CPM stands for Cost Per Minute, which means the cost of each minute of clothing sewing.

In order to offer the best competitive price to the buyer and achieve maximum profit on garments, CPM costs must be kept to a minimum level. To calculate CPM, you must add up all direct labor costs and all other operating costs for a specific order or for a specific period. Cost of Manufacturing (CM/COM)/Cost of Manufacturing (MC) shall be calculated after calculating factory CPM.

First of all, you need to get the monthly information of factory rent expenses, commercial expenses, utility expenses (Electricity, Steam, Compressed Air, Water), transportation costs, repair and maintenance expenses, wages and salary expenses , etc. the number of machines needed to make the layout for the particular item for which we are calculating the cost of production. Cost of Creation (CM) rule. Total Garment Factory Monthly Expenses/ 26 days) / (Number of operating machine of your factory for a given month) X (Number of machine to complete the layout)} / [{(Production capacity per hour using the existing structure , excluding change and rejected quantity) X 8 working hours per day}] X 12 pcs.

Work Measurement: Determine the standard time required to complete the improved method. Advantages of work study. Line balancing is to keep the workload (theoretical mp/actual mp) as 1 or less than 1 by balancing work based on performance and target.

If major sewing problems are found, garments are sent back to the sewing department for correction. Inspection After completion of ironing or finishing, garments are again inspected here by the quality controller to confirm the correct measurement of the garments. Poly garments are here in a poly bag to keep the garments free from dust, dirt and other impurities.

Metal Check In this section, the clothing must be passed through a metal detector device to identify metal deposits in the clothing. Packaging or drawing Finally, all clothes must be packed so that the clothes can be safely sent to the customer. Inspection and Shipping It's time to check the final inspection and then head to the shipment for shipping.

One is done manually, which is a manual system, and the other is done with a suction machine. Ironing is the final process done to the fabric by heating and pressing with or without steam to remove wrinkles and give the garment a flat appearance. According to the above process, different types of tags and accessories are attached to the clothes according to the customer's comment.

After completing the packaging, it should be placed the garments in a predetermined package by sorting according to the size and color is called assortment. Finally, according to buyer's comments, cartoons are done in the inner boxes and are properly twisted by the adhesive tape.
