Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all teachers and laboratory staff who helped me to carry out the work. A can crusher is a device used to crush food and beverage cans, beer cans to save space for recycling.

The main purpose of this project is to manufacture a can crusher machine to reduce the scrap volume and utilize the cans so that it becomes easy to take them to the recycling site. Our task for this project is to design and build a can crusher that minimizes the volume of aluminum cans by 70%.

NOMENCLATURE

INTRODUCTION

  • Objectives

The Can Crusher machine is widely used in the beverage industry or in scrap dealers. shop to reduce the amount of cans. A can crusher can be defined as "A device used to crush aluminum cans for easier storage in recycling bins there by giving you extra space by flattening cans". To reduce the waste, we planned to create a can crusher that will reduce the volume of aluminum cans by approximately seventy percent, with which the transport volume will increase and transport costs will be reduced.

So it helps to create a better place to live in, apart from that, this can breaker can actually be the future mode of recycling, apart from the recycling bins. Using a similar type of design to the diagram below, but with an additional container underneath, the tin noser concept of recycling can be applied. In this project, the development of a trash crusher so that the cans can be crushed as flat and look as symmetrical as possible and put in the trash.

This project is about designing and manufacturing the Recycle Bin Can Crusher Machine to help people to easily crush the can as well as bottle and bring anywhere. This project is mainly about generating a new concept of tin crusher which makes it easier to bring anywhere and easier to crush the tin.

2016) have presented a paper on the design and manufacture of automatic can crushers using double-acting cylinders for pneumatic system and ice. 2017) has conducted research into current can crushers and the different mechanisms used. Manual can crushers are the most common and about 9 out of 10 crushers sold are manual crushers. However, the crushing process has to be done by us and there are no automatic systems in semi-automatic can crushers.[5].

Automatic can crushers are the fastest of three types and require less effort, but it is difficult to find fully automatic can crushers as they are mostly made by individuals or small businesses and are produced on a small scale. These can crushers are not as common as vertical can crushers because there is no practical way to dispose of the empty can after compaction. What makes vertical can crushers so popular is that they can be installed in more convenient locations.

In essence, multi-position can crushers are the same as horizontal crushers, but with an additional mounting machine that allows them to be mounted horizontally and vertically.[5] Of the few sources we could find, most lacked detail, and many were written by people who hadn't actually tested can crushers themselves.

This efficiency explains why about 75 percent of the 800 million tons of aluminum produced since the late 19th century is still in use. This means that operation is simple and the mechanics of the breaker are designed so that anyone, including children and the elderly, can use the device with ease. Keep in mind that if the breaker is difficult to use, it probably won't be used at all.

Another important but often overlooked factor is how much a can crusher actually reduces the volume of the can itself. After all, the purpose of a can crusher is to compress cans so that more of them can be stored in less space. The basic principle of operation of a paddle can crusher is that an empty aluminum can is inserted into the opening of the crusher.

Pull the leveler down with your hand to squeeze the can. Take a piece of pressed aluminum from the shredder and throw it in the trash Quick and easy. As many mechanisms can be obtained as there are links in the kinematic chain, if we attach different links in the kinematic chain in turn. A mechanism is a mechanical part of a machine that has the function of transmitting motion and forces from the energy source to the output.

In a four-bar chain, the sum of the lengths of the shortest and longest link must not be greater than the sum of the lengths of the remaining two links if there is to be continuous relative motion between the two links. Four different mechanisms can be obtained by attaching each of the links of a single sliding drive chain. Most commonly, power is transmitted by a roller chain, known as a drive chain or transfer chain, which runs over a sprocket, with the teeth of the sprocket meshing with the holes in the chain links.

Sometimes the power comes out simply by turning the chain, which can be used to lift or pull objects. By changing the diameter of the input and output gears relative to each other, the gear ratio can be changed e.g. Drive belts can slip if they are toothless, meaning the output side may not rotate at the correct speed and some work is lost to the friction of the belts as they bend around the pulleys.

Mild steel is the most commonly used steel. It is used in the industries as well as in the various everyday objects that we use. Almost 90% of the world's steel products are made of mild steel because it is the cheapest form of steel. Mild steel is the most widely used steel that is not brittle and cheap in price.

The study of mild steel becomes more significant for students of mechanical or technical metallurgical engineering. Connecting rod issued to transfer the load from the slider to the box, and it must bear the high load, so it must be very strong. The construction of each part is mainly dependent on this component, this part plays an important role in the transfer of load from the slider to the box.

The connecting rod is connected to the crank, which facilitates the work of the pipe crushing machine. This part is mainly used for power transmission from the handle to the chain to the chain for the effective reciprocating movement of the metal box to crush the cans during the forward and return stroke.[7]. This gear is connected to the slot by which the cam mechanism is operated to crush the can.

This part is used to maintain tension between the chain and pulley to prevent power loss due to chain slippage. In an engine, its purpose is to transfer force from the expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod and/or connecting rod. In a pump, the function is reversed and force is transferred from the crankshaft to the piston in order to compress or expel the fluid in the cylinder.

Attached to the end of the crank by a pivot is a rod, usually called a connecting rod. The end of the rod attached to the crank moves in a circular motion, while the other end is usually constrained to move in a linear sliding motion. In this case, a person's arm or leg acts as the connecting rod, applying reciprocating force to the crutch.

Usually perpendicular to the other end of the arm is a bar, often to which a freely rotating handle or pedal is attached. Pedals without a clip require cleats, which are attached to the shoe and click into the pedal.
