First of all, I am grateful to Almighty Allah for enabling me to complete this thesis. I take this opportunity to record my sincere thanks to all the faculty members of my department. Now, I want to thank all my friends who helped me in this work.

Finally, I want to thank my parents along with my family members for their unconditional support, love and care. Like many other recent movements around the world, we see a large contribution of social media related to the protest. For field protest information, we collect front page coverage of newspapers because there is no way to collect information from that old time.

We see the headlines in the newspaper and see how it reflects the protest on the ground. Due to the unavailability of Twitter information using the API. During the protest, we use a social media monitoring tool to collect information about Twitter hashtags. After that, we did a comparative analysis of newspaper coverage as the nature of grassroots protests and hashtag information on Twitter.

A large number of people about 62,482 people were injured in road accidents in three and a half years according to the count by Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity - JKS (in English: Passengers Welfare Association) and Accident Institute of BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology). Only two reasons are responsible for all this. According to sources, most of the road accident victims, dead and injured persons were children, youth and workers - who are considered as earning members of the family and leaders of the country's national economy. Nirapad Sarak Chai (Seeking Safe Road), an organization founded by famous Bangla film actor Ilias Kanchan. They put the figure at 13,367 deaths and 19,158 injuries in the last three years.

It is also worth noting that the population and number of vehicles are too much in the capital. The ARI study also found that 54 percent of the victims belong to the age group of 16 to 40 and 18 percent are under 15 years old. Young students from schools and colleges have been protesting for a week since the death of two students when a bus ran over them in the city on July 29.

Jabal-e-Nur was the name of the bus that was responsible for the accident. But it was later revealed that 3 buses were involved in the incident. He has been criticized by the citizens of the country and they call for protest in other areas of the country. It is very strange that most of the protestors are between 13 and 19 years old, a very young age.

People of the country that their upcoming generation will be full of blessing and they are following the footsteps of heroes of 1971 of the liberation war. Member of the civil rights organizations and Ilias Kanchan, Bangladeshi famous film actor, founder of the Nirapad Sarak Chai campaign, expressed solidarity with protesters [18]. On August 5, students of Dhaka University blocked Shahbag Square and demanded the resignation of Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan.

This may be the peak day of road safety protests as we explain later. We analyze the tweets exchanged between various users during road safety protests and we agree that some of these hashtags were very popular during the protest period. On the other hand, using specific keywords or hashtags may not retrieve all the data related to a topic.

To understand the spread of the road safety protest via Twitter, we need to collect the large volume of protest-related tweets exchanged during the peak of the protest. People used Topsy API for this problem in the past, but now there is no such API available. Topsy was a Twitter-certified search portal that allowed people to search non-real-time Twitter content, ie. according to older tweets.

Brand24, Keyhole.co, buzzsumo.com, tweetreach.com, buffer.com are examples of social media analysis tools [23]. Brand24 is a Polish social media monitoring tool from 2011. Since then, we had to collect a huge number of older tweets from Twitter, which became difficult due to the limited release of the tools. Setting up the API requires two things: one is the Account ID, which is available after registering with Brand 24, and the other is the API Key, which will also be automatically generated or must be generated manually after you are registered user Brand 24.

To configure, two methods that are under Brand24 objects that are already required must call and pass the account ID and API key as parameters. After that, we select Twitter hashtag information from Brand24, then we compare these two. Finally, show we are really Twitter and land protests run parallel. We use Twitter mentions and number of social media reaches to understand the protest nature on Twitter.

They themselves started writing analytical article about road safety and road accident history in Bangladesh. From August 2 to August 7, everything on the newspaper's front page was related to road safety protests. On August 4, Prothom Alo publishes an analytical article. Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh also talks about the protest.

We already mentioned that the road safety protest was held from July 29, 2018 to August 9, 2018 (actually ends on August 8, 2018. We extended an extra day to compare the post-protest period). On the last two days of July, the total number of mentions was 2 and 3 respectively, and the number of Twitter users' timeline reach was 10 and 490. Within a day, the social media reach increased to 490. On the next two days of On August 3, the number of mentions increased was 45 and 47 and the reach on social media was 6083.

Remember the first day of the protest which had only 1 mention and 7 social media reach. But when it goes viral, the protest holds the attention of the entire website platform. We see in newspaper section that the red marked days were peak sound days for road safety protests.

If we want to compare newspapers and Twitter, we need to know that the newspapers are distributed the next day. So we want to explain the data from table 3 and table 4. First we talk about Twitter data and then we explain what the newspaper writes the next day. Now look at what's actually happening on Twitter these days. Then we provide a Twitter data table. We received this information from brand24. We also include the screenshots from brand24.

For this we use their website to find old copies of the newspaper. In the news about the day of the protest, we see that the next day the paper got 33-66% column coverage and 30-50% of the article was about the road safety movement. Shown at the top are the top 5 hashtags collected by the Brand24 tool. In these pictures, we can see that these four days were mentioned most often from August 4 to 7.

After seeing figure of newspaper coverage of front page and individual hashtags figure of twitter, we see that peak days of the protest were August 4, August 5, August 6, August 7, 2018. So we can easily say with the given analysis , that the Twitter protesters keep footprints as on the ground.

When use our top hashtags already mentioned in table 1 then we got the Figure 3. Figure 3 gives data of total number of mention and total number of social media reach
